the distance from the fin to nose is too long....plus the shape of the fin is not rounded.thus no dolphin

is this a real image?....if so that dude would freak~

that's a real image yes...

the shark COULD be ill... I mean ever seen a stick was ashore?

anyway there's more photos in the series and this is the only one with the guy. the others are without him as he did what you suggested - which is freaking.

So lets see the rest of the series already

flat tail - indicative of marine mammal (fish's tail especially a sharks would have the top nearer the surface and be more pronounced - as is the dorsal- through the depth of water)
short height on dorsal fin
visible hump before the nose
No second dorsal fin is the dead give-away that this isn't a shark however..

Dolphin :)

I say Dolphin as well. Contrary to what Ebolii posted above, the distance between nose to fin is too large to be a shark. Shark fins are typically closer to the nose. The tail fin appears to be horizontally oriented, as Fabio noted. It looks like a very large dolphin.

One other point in favor of dolphins. They often ride bow waves of ships, which is similar to the "body surfing" it appears it is doing in this shot. Not sure if sharks would engage in this behavior as the forward water pressure through the gills would probably be uncomfortable for a shark, or at least unexpected.

If not for the tail, I would have said it was a Tuna. The fin looks very tuna-like. :)

But not the bottlenose species we're familiar with (i.e. "Flipper","Darwin",etc.)...

Actually it is. I can see a very clear snout on it. :)

even though you hugged me and you're about to join my site, I still have to agree. "Wuss!", still being afraid of swimming pools, when everyone knows that when a shark is around, it does the "dum dum" sound, so you have ample time to escape :p

the dum dum sound?

you know sharks have been seen swimming up fresh water rivers! and living for hours, still having bitten people!

I like my legs.
and arms.
and head.
and every other bodypart.

and I'm attached to these two too... *hugs COUGH COUGHS*

Bull Sharks can live in fresh water indefinitely. They are the only ones though... and to me the first picture looks like a shark. The second one looks like a dolphin. All fish tail fins are vertical and all mammals are horizontal..the first picture is definitely an optical allusion(sp). I have personally seen sharks riding the waves looking for seals. Dolphins however do it for fun.....but I am in no way an expert. I do live at the beach and can go on only what I have seen....ok I'll go now..... :what:  Great pics by the way and very intresting.....
