Re: Ships of the U.E.G.
yah man!
You know (of course ya do!) it's those little touches that make such a big difference. Like how the 'handle' area is darker because of all of hands grabbing that area. Looks really good - I can't wait to see the whole thing all done up. |

UPDATE...
A bit more work done on the door textures. I've included a close up of the sign. Now that I have a good idea that I can get the look that I wanted I'll probably start again from scratch. |
Re: Ships of the U.E.G.
This ship must be crewed by some messy people. :(

Re: Ships of the U.E.G.
These parts usually stay with the cargo containers until picked up by another cargo ship. So they might be sitting on a planet surface or in some station for a monthe or years. So the blame can't be placed on the ships' crew only.

Re: Ships of the U.E.G.
A few bloody hand prints and some slime and I'd believe we have us a 'xenomorph situation'.

Re: Ships of the U.E.G.
Well then I guess I missed the boat on this one.
I looked at it and it reminded me of things like auto repair stations where the mechanics touch things often and they discolor the surface around an object - like a light switch, a door knob, a drawer. Either way it still looks way cool. |
Re: Ships of the U.E.G.
Great attention to detail on the door .. really add to the realism

UPDATE...
I wasn't all that happy with the door textures as they where so I decided to redo them in a more clean version. This would how the door might look on a ship owned by a collector. Like a Jay Leno of spaceships. I'll do dirtier versions later. |
Re: Ships of the U.E.G.
Looks good, dude. :)

Well it's been a long time since I've worked on this ship but I've finally had some ideas to use. I also tend to lose interest in a projcet the closer I get to finishing.
The first two pictures show what I have in mind for some lighting. I also added what I thought might be an indicater to show if the door has a good seal or not. Unfortunatly I lost this work because of a bad file. Lucky for me I was able to go back to another save and start again. A minor set back but it gave me some more ideas. I reworked the light above the door and changed the color. I'm also thinking about adding some volumetrics to give it a little spooky feel. I also thought of adding a first aid kit and fire extinguisher at each door. The last pic is a close up of the first aid kit. Oops I forgot to mention that I did use a phot by John Eaves to see if I could get a used torn up poster effect. I'm no longer useing that image. |

UPDATE...
Although not really because this ship was built before the U.E.G was formed. But it is because of this ship the U.E.G. was formed. This ship was built by the NASSA (North American States Space Administration) to be the first ship to leave our solar system. And it did so only by accident while engaging it’s engines an explosion ripped a hole in spce pulling the ship into friendly Ma’Aangan territory. After floating nearly dead in space for 18 months a M’Aangan freighter found the ship and towed it back to the nearest inhabited world. Over several months the crew of the Columbus, still kept alive by their failing cryotubes are revived and their ship repared with the addition of Earths first FTL drive. This drive will become known as a jump engine. The first use of this Jump engine will return the Columbus and her crew to Earth escorted by two Ships of the Royal M’Aangan Navy. Shortly after these incidents the United Earth Government is formed and the M’Aangan become it’s greatest ally. I’m texturing this ship to be clean because I want it to be a museum piece. |

UPDATE...
pic 1 This the main walkway that connects the engineering section to the main part of the ship. As originally designed this was gonna be the part that contained the seldom working first shot at artificial gravity. I decided to just add some observation rooms and put the A.G. handwavium somewhere in engineering. It's not exactly done yet there are still a few more details to add and textures to be done pic 2 This is a view of the windows on the other side. In the original design it didn't have any windows and was made of 22 parts. Now it's made of 5 parts. pic 3 This is how the Engineering section and main walkway look connected. |

Re: Ships of the U.E.G.
Looks cool.
I like the 2nd shot where we get a sense of size and I like that last shot too. Really cool design. |
Re: Ships of the U.E.G.
sweet .. the poor human stuck on the side out side the window .. what did he do ??

Re: Ships of the U.E.G.
Fantastic work (as always). The designs are incredible... had to chuckle about the "death blossom" reference to "Last Starfighter". Your modeling and texture work are top notch, but I do have to comment about the warning sign on the door. It just reads too "passive and friendly" like.
Might I suggest that there's a more succinct urgency to it... like "WARNING - Secure this opening to prevent fatal pressure change (+1016 mbar)". More techie blurb, like manufacturer warnings rather than captain's orders. Cheers! — Möe |
