I think I made a dog house in Wings once by following a tutorial. But, other than that, Ger's right, I only use the mirror modeler. Too bad Thomas Pemberton doesn't post over here anymore, he switched to Wings a year or two ago and his work in it has been fantastic, IMO.

Sounds interesting EG180, I should look around for his works. :) Anyways, its nice to meet you all. As for me at the moment, I am just collecting models to use in DAZ3D to make something. Some I got plans to get, though I need to get the money first...and a job.

Thomas' blog: http://tpemberton.wordpress.com/

I love a lot of his old Max work, but his Wings modeling is even better, IMO. He still renders in Max, due to the fact that Wings is severely limited in that area, but he's switched completely to Wings for modeling. :)

I hear you on the money part, that's why I use freeware.

Hi, I am mainly a physical modeler. I'm looking into 3d modeling with the advent of 3d printers. I have some experience with light wave but I am still pretty new.

Welcome aboard.

never very good with Physical models glue every where but where it should be.

I use lightwave myself but only to model, have not rendered much at all, perhaps a year

This website allows you to upload 3d designs and they will print them for you.

Welcome. I see you're a fellow Daytonian. I was born there, though I live in Huber Heights now.

3D printers are cool. I first saw some buzz about them on some of the forums a few years ago. They've gone down quite a bit in price since then. :)

Re: New Member Welcome Thread

I'm new here and I see from the last poster in this thread that there hasn't been much activity here in a while. I became interested in 3d modelling both to try to render some gaming characters I play on-line as well as some characters in a book I'm writing. I'm certainly no professional, but I've learned to use DAZ3d both versions 3 and now 4. I've found rendering 3d models is rather addictive. I mainly search for free models and textures on the various sites and that can take up quite a bit of time. Sci-Fi type armor and Fantasy plate mail or chainmail are items I look for most.

welcome aboard...... Lum V.

I think everyone joins first to download models, it is our hope that they well stay on and become part of this community.
I am not a professional either and I readily agree about the addictive part.

Newbie, starting out with Poser and 3dstudioMax. Mainly just tinkering right now, but starting to do set designs for a comic-strip that I am working on, as well as other projects.

Re: New Member Welcome Thread

Starship bridge, pick your own genre or do an original one. 100% original work, no use of models or textures from others. Size doesn't matter, it can be big or small. You may want to have this one go on for longer than a month, given the scope of it.

Re: New Member Welcome Thread

Sounds good... it won´t limit to a genre.

Perhaps December would give members time?
