That's a stunning take on the Liberator. Has anyone came across a 3d render of her? :storm:

I decided thatthe poly count was to high .. so I am trying it textures :( what do you think of the top Weapons pod

Re: Blake's 7 Liberator DSV

How high is the poly count? Also, (people are going to hate me for this) which part is the top weapons pod? Is it the big cylinder thing on top that it looks like you textured? If so, that looks pretty good, dude. Even if it's not the right part, it looks good. ;)

Well not that high in a rendering a single frame but for animation it was taking 8 hours to do a simple scene ..

The big 3 cylinders at the end of the nacelles are the main Weapons ..

Thanks I am having a dilemma about the right way to approach this. I like to be able to do close shot and a textures fall apart for me when I try that..

The textures give it a very old look... which given the ships regenerative abilities I din't think it would have, apart from it's final appearence where it really was falling apart, the Liberator always looked brand new, and very clean.

That being said, the textures add that much more depth to it.

that's the very thing i am having trouble with .. i have forgotten the ability's of the liberator .. i have to rethink this

So? I thought that was pretty normal for a simple scene. Do you have a dual core? I don't and a 300 frame flyby of my Phase II model takes about that long (of course, I realized that I used higher quality textures than I should, but that's beside the point.)

I'd thought they might be, since you said "weapons pod" but I don't know enough about this ship to make assumptions like that.

One thing you can do is keep the higher quality version for the close shots but use the faster rendering version for wider shots. I *think* that's what they did on shows like Enterprise because I can't see them doing a normal animation with the highly detailed ship they featured in the tight shots.

You have good sci-fi I will do as you suggest.. but I am falling into the same traps I usually do with my models .. changing my mind in the 9th hour

Try using different textures. Those do make her look 'old'. But also, they have a shine on them. As I remember, Liberator always appeared to have a matt finish. (No idea why - it was never explained on the show).
