New Member Welcome Thread
Hell... even oldies can post here :)
First, welcome to 3DG. Tell us a bit about yourself, what programs you use, and how you got here. I'll intro myself. My internet handle is Warrior. I own this site. It's been around since 1999, helping people become better modelers and artists. I use primarily Lightwave. I used to dabble a bit with Poser 4. Now... about you... ;) |
Re: New Member Welcome Thread
HA! I knew this thread was just bound to pop up sometime :D
BorgMan's the name, SketchUp my game. I've been around the forum scene since 2002, but back then I only made sketches of my starships. Nowadays I model them ^_^ I also have the tendency of building interiors, and trying to insanely detail my models (with which SketchUp doesn't alwasy approve :p). Oh well, I'll go ahead and post some images :D |
Re: New Member Welcome Thread
Hi. I'm Chris and I'm an alcoholic.
*looks around* Oh, crap, wrong site. Uh, nevermind.... Seriously, welcome BorgMan. :D |
Re: New Member Welcome Thread

Re: New Member Welcome Thread
I am Ger or Taranis .. and I don't own this site. nor do I own any site this is because I am cheap ... I use lightwave8.3 and 9.something. I cannot remember .
I started with Truespace 3.2 .. free .. did OK in render's .. moved to Lightwave and have been a member here since 2004.. and I think possibly the second site i joined after Colonial fleets .. I spend more time in making models now than the art rendering side of things .. Thanks |
Re: New Member Welcome Thread
Howdy howdy. Cuplah'...
dv8_fx aka vee aka vic .... originally from the Philippines, living in Malaysia. Self confessed asian trekkie tho not as seasoned as some of you may be. For obvious reasons - No trek-con, not much trekkie paraphernelia or the like around here.... A freelance advertising graphics man , Tho I've done a lot of cad and modelling work for an architectural company before I went freelance, I never created anything for myself. I think now's the time. The way I see it, it's like re-learning everything from scratch. I use Autocad, Max7 (I know, need upgrade), Poser, Photoshop, Corel Draw. Lightwave, Bryce and Hexagon... still learning... Boooooooys.... where's the beer.... Cheers to y'all! |
Re: New Member Welcome Thread
No beer. Some of use keep falling off the wagon. ;)
Seriously, I'm Chris, aka evil_genius_180 (or EG180 or just EG.) I'm a huge Trekkie dork and I'm damn proud of it. I don't go to conventions or stuff like that but I love to collect and watch old Trek episodes on DVD (and my new thing is the webisodes of New Voyages and some of the others) and model Trek ships and make Trek images. I sometimes dabble in modeling other stuff, but it's mostly Star Trek, especially TOS. My weapon of choice for both modeling and rendering is trueSpace 4. Speaking of which, I should probably go model something.... |

Hello there. :)

Re: New Member Welcome Thread
Well, I use Daz 3d and Gimp. I'm quite new to the 3d rendering thing, so I don't really know that much. I found tis sight by accident trying to find a prop.

Re: New Member Welcome Thread
Hello All,
I'm Woodman 3D. Fairly new to most of the 3D modeling. I have used True Space for a long time, but simply to do pieces of industrial equipment. Not too long ago, I got a Carvewright CNC machine. Started getting more into the 3D modeling software to make images to carve. Seems I spend more time doing the 3D stuff than the wood stuff lately. I always was a huge SciFi fan. Just about all flavors. Even been to several Star Trek - Dr. Who conventions (long, long, ago). I kept seeing refernces to this site over on the DAZ forums, and thought I would check it out. |

Re: New Member Welcome Thread
Everything I saw at the DAZ forum about 3D Gladiators was good. I'll see if I can find some of the older renders, but trust me, they are nothing exciting.
I am glad I found the place. |
Re: New Member Welcome Thread
Howdy, I'm a 3d artist and general nerd. presently I'm running a trek RPG (d20 system) and trying to put together some character portraits of my players.

Re: New Member Welcome Thread
I guess this is where I introduce myself.
Just started getting into 3d modeling, mostly because of this site/program - http://shatters.net/celestia/ it is a 3d space sim. Also because I haven't had alot of time until the last year or so. I retired from the military a year ago after 26 years. I have done mostly 2d stuff now for quite awhile now. Restoing old phtos, making touch screen interfaces, and some planetary textures. Right now the programs I use are, Micrografix, PhotoFilter, Anim8tor, Ifranview, PlanetGen, and Wings3D. I found this site searching for a model of the K7 station. I have been a sci-fi fan all my life, especially Star Trek. In Celestia I have made many Trek addons, you can see pics of them here - http://home.mchsi.com/~wilsonta/ You can also see them here - http://www.celestiamotherlode.net/index.html Just look under, "Fictional"-"Star Trek" then look for the onse made by "fungun" I hope to pick up some info/pointers while I'm here to make my addons even better. Thanks Tim |
