USS Churchill

Was this mesh ever released? Who built it? I refer to the USS Churchill, NCC-2713

Starship August 26th, 2002 09:05 AM

The Churchill was built by Anarion (long time ago...). The original mesh was made using a program named Imagine, if my memory don´t fail.:) Anarion released an unfinished version in Max... I must have it in some place....
By the way, long time no see Anarion. Somebody knows about him ?

starforce2 August 27th, 2002 04:06 AM

there is a new one out at www.staryards.com. How ever it is in .mod format I believe for SFC. Dreamyards released the conversion for bridge commander. Going to play it later. Beautiful ship like that will be fun to blast to peices...

Would love to see it released in LWO

mercutiojb August 28th, 2002 08:39 PM

I'd love to see it released in any format!

KBOC August 28th, 2002 08:52 PM

Max format is only good for Max... which most releases are nowadays, and it leaves everyone else out...

mercutiojb August 29th, 2002 05:54 PM

Is it released in MAX? I didn't see it on there, maybe I'm blind

KBOC August 29th, 2002 06:36 PM

Starship said it was at some point

ReAder August 29th, 2002 06:56 PM

is the churchill canon?

KBOC August 29th, 2002 07:17 PM

no... but it should be :D

mercutiojb August 29th, 2002 07:49 PM

Well, then starship, send away!

mercutiojb August 30th, 2002 10:08 AM

The original model was built in Imagine. As I´d said, Anarion started to built her as a low-poly version in Max. That was converted to SFC (see the original Anarion´s post http://www.3dgladiators.net/forums/s...ight=Churchill) by Cleeve.
Long time ago, he released the low-poly Max version. And yes, I have it. :D
Anyway, you can import the version released at http://users.adelphia.net/%7Eanarion...ill/index.html in Max. All that you need is a plugin to import ".mod" files.
I´ll looking for the version that I have and post it here. :)

Hi guys.

Yes, I'm still alive. I just haven't been doing much starship building lately. What little time I have for modeling I spend working on human figures using Poser and converting them to Max.

I did a low-poly version of the Churchill (6000+ polys) ealier this summer for SFCII and Bridge Commander. Right now I'm working on a Neverwinter Module.

KBOC September 1st, 2002 09:40 AM

Heya Anarion... I remember when the Curchil came out... was that about two years ago?

She's still a favorite.

Anárion September 2nd, 2002 09:29 PM

Yea, about that.

seanr September 11th, 2002 07:41 AM

Anárion - any chance you're release the Imagine version?

mercutiojb September 11th, 2002 08:25 AM

Yea, that Imagine model would be great :)

Anárion September 13th, 2002 11:04 AM

Well, converting my Imagine version of the Churchill to Max would not be easy. There are alot of problems with the geometry and textures which would have to be fixed or re-done.

A while back I started to rebuild the ship from scratch in Max but never finished it. To tell you the truth, I was getting bored of the ship. After the original version, the blueprints and the MOD for SFC2, I needed a change.

So....If anyone would like to take a crack at it....you have my blessing.

Anárion September 13th, 2002 11:31 AM

Here is a pic of the blueprints that I converted into splines in Max to use as a reference. If anyone would like to model the ship I can give you the Max file to use. It is much better than trying to use bitmaps.

Darrell Lawrence September 13th, 2002 11:38 AM

Send me the Imagine version w/textures and some 5 views so I can see the textures on it.

I'll build a hi-rez version of it in Lightwave :)

mercutiojb September 13th, 2002 07:59 PM

I'd like that MAX file please, and also the imagine file, if you'll send it. heer9901@stcloudstate.edu, or I can set up an ftp.

Daringer September 18th, 2002 12:48 AM

thats a nice looking ship design, i remember when you were first working on it...i wanted to get my grubby hands on it then..i tried experimenting around with creating something very similar, but it never panned out...actually i started working heavy overtime and never got very far. if you don't mind i'd still like to get a copy of it...i liked the blueprints you had of it and i tried using them to create the model itself...but i couldn't quite get any good detail...

I would like to try a conversion for Max... Could you send me the Imagine version of the Churchill, and the max file with the spiline blueprints ?

Thanks in advance !

Daringer September 24th, 2002 11:35 PM

maybe if we all get together and ask very nicely...the mighty Anarion will let us have a copy of this very truely excelent model.....

PLEASE ?? WITH RAINBOW SPRINKLES ON TOP?

i feel the churchill is the finest non-canon design i have ever seen. i've always loved the movie era style of trek ships, and this design should have been what the Ent-B should have been. i believe i mentioned something along this line back when you first posted images of it...a long long time ago, in a galaxy far far away...anyways i'd like to take a crack at converting the original file even if there is some odd geometry, this is a design that should be resurected, or in the very least a copy of the splines you created from the blueprints to get a good start on the proportions of the model...

feel free to contact me at sdarin3@qwest.net

thank's for taking the time to read this

Yes ! You said all that I would like to say...
Please Anarion, give us a chance to work with the Curchill... :) :bounce:
Send us the mesh in Imagine format and the blueprints for max.

Fell free to contact me : wendhausen@osite.com.br

In advance, many thanks.

Churchill release

I started to convert the ship myself but ran into the same problems as before so I am fixing them. When I am finished I will release the ship.

Anarion

Nova Class October 1st, 2002 05:27 PM

I wouldn't mind taking a crack at it in Lightwave, Anarion, if you have the schematics and wouldn't mind. :) wes@nova-designs.com

Cheers!

Daringer October 6th, 2002 02:26 PM

what program are you using to convert the mesh? and are you trying to do a one step conversion? I've had pretty good results by converting meshes into .3ds then loading the .3ds file into MAX. unfortunately the conversion program i use does not do textures, so it would have to be re-texured...which i'm not that good at <smile> but with the mesh converted time could be taken to get the textures tweeked to the proper specularity and diffuse levels...

mercutiojb October 6th, 2002 07:07 PM

Woohoo! I can't wait for her release!
