An attempt to "Martinise" my space scenes.

This is an attempt to give my space scenes a bit more "texture" ... It's far from perfect, but it's not bad :)

As always. click to enlarge ...

That's very nice! Nearly perfect, just the black areas look bit like clouds sweeping in the foreground (what they technically seen may actually be, don't know ;-)).

ST-One July 7th, 2003 02:43 AM

I like it.

I like it very much!

Only the red ring around that flare - I´d remove it.

Katana July 7th, 2003 04:55 AM

Thanks guys ... I must admit the "dark clouds" are what I'm most disappointed with ... but they will do, I'm thinking of getting a WACOM tablet to assist in this kind of photoshop image creation.

You know I stared at this thing for about 5 hours last night and I never noticed that red flare ring ... I'll have to be sure I don't add that to the next one :) ... sharp eyes!!

Thanks.

I have a question, Katana.
That great little ship in your avatar - is there a LW-version of it? I really would like to do some renderes/animations with it.

Katana July 7th, 2003 07:05 AM

My Katana class was converted to lightwave, I haven't released her to the general public yet.

I'll have to think about it for a bit :)

Thomas P July 7th, 2003 07:37 AM

Very nice. Did you read his tutorials? Real pretty pic.

Katana July 7th, 2003 08:06 AM

I did read his planet tutorial and his "Riven" walkthru ... it's amazing isn't it how some simple descriptions of techniques can really help pave the way to improvement :)

Sharky July 7th, 2003 10:53 AM

photoshop? What's wrong with the PSPyou're using?

Katana July 7th, 2003 11:21 AM

I use PSP for just about everything, but for some things PShop is jut better (I hate it with a passion, it's so difficult to use)

Sharky July 7th, 2003 11:44 AM

:))
like what?
PSP8 is just superior to everything imho.

Katana July 7th, 2003 12:08 PM

If I had PSP8 I might be able to agree with you :)

FutureDarkness July 7th, 2003 02:27 PM

Could you make an 3DSM Tutorial on how creating such wonderfull Backgrunds??

(Please!!! :D)

Kai July 7th, 2003 03:35 PM

please.. I've been trying to do that for smegging years...

Katana July 7th, 2003 06:16 PM

Well, I can't do a 3DSM tutorial because it's all photoshop ... and for ideas on how it's done go to http://www.artofgregmartin.com and read his planet tutorial and his "Riven" Walkthru.

I'll see what I can do about my own tutorial, but It was really 5 hours of ... hmmm lets try this, and hmmm what does this tool do (Because photoshop is the worlds most annoying program (next to MAX anyway ;) )

Thomas P July 7th, 2003 07:18 PM

WHOA! Photoshop ain't that bad :D I finally upgraded to 7 just awhile back and have actually found it sooo much better than previous versions. But PSP is easier.

ST-One July 8th, 2003 07:26 AM

^ Well, who wouldn´t??

I´m impatient, sorry.

Did you come to a decision?

Katana July 9th, 2003 08:42 AM

Well, for the first 2 years I knew I was never going to make it public, then for the next 2 years I thought about it, then for the next year I really concidered it ... now I'm going to give it some serious thought.

It really depends on if I finish V3/4 ... I might release it after that.

It might take a while ... sorry.

ST-One July 9th, 2003 08:47 AM

I can wait - i think. ;) ;)
