Star trek Comic

I only done this as a test to see if I could do it. It will get longer the more people I add. These are the people I work with, they have seen this and found it very amusing. I've set it in the star trek universe (Next Generation uniforms but no particular era) but the stars are my work mates. My team leader is the captain, my senior team leader is like Spock character. I have mates that are the handy men of the bungalow so I'm shoving them in the engine room. Alot of ideas, hope I can pull it off. Thanks to the people who made these models. Let me know what you think, hopefully I'm posting this in the right place.

Re: Star trek Comic
What program are you using for the ship image .. Poser ,,,, ?? and what ship is it .. :)
|
Re: Star trek Comic
whoops!!! Really sorry bout that. Lol. I didnt even think about it. thanks for editing the picture. The ship is called Excalibur, think its a star trek ship that they made up (whoever made it) and the background is a space picture from a nasa site.

and we don´t mind mistakes so long as you don´t mind our fixing them if we have too. there is a rule about posting images with modellers credits that can be included in a "readme" file . that you get with the model. if you don´t know the name I will see if I can source it.... in your comic you could have that at the start or the end depending on you Like a film. but its good thing to include the modeller in your final comic. as your in a WIP thread no credits are ok ... But we will see if we can help you if we can,.. |
Re: Star trek Comic
your ships looks like the U.S.S. Excalibur by Steven Davis.....

Re: Star trek Comic
I rekon you are right. I just looked in the folder where it came from but there is no readme in there. Think I got it from shareCG. Next time I upload a picture, I'll make sure I know what I'm using and by whom. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction though.

that's what some times happens when converting from one program to an another .. the read me is forgotten :) I have been told off in the past for some thing like that... but his original read-me was never included in the new conversion file . Its like a partnership .. I am a modeller I rarely render anything now.. Fretslayer is on the other side like the creative one generation images like you .... when he work with my models he include me in the credits ... without me he would not have the means to create his art or animation and without him I never see what I done in any art :) I have seen on other sites my models been used .. and I am delighted to see them .... makes no difference if its great art or very raw from a new person .. they saw something they liked and used it. that's how I feel about it. and that why I release my models to be used |

Hey, I just found this thread!
:) I like where you're going with your comic on a visual level. Nice layout. If I may make a suggestion though... Regarding the panel with the image of the ship. I would darken the background and maybe knock it a tiny bit out of focus to create Depth of Field and make the ship 'pop' in the scene. For me, the ship gets a bit washed out looking in that image. But I do like what you're doing and I would like to see more when you decide to share it. :) When I render my ships, I tend to use a '3 point light rig'. Each of the lights is a 'spotlight' style light and I use a 'target object helper' (or what Lightwave calls a 'null') as my target point for each of the lights to point at. This 'Target Object Helper' is then parented to the ship. Light 1: Key light - white 50% illumination Light 2: Fill Light - orange 40% illumination Light 3: Back Light - blue 66% illumination I set the lights up like a triangle, each pointing at the ship. The key light is a little bit above the ship and the back light is a little below it. These are my basic settings but depending on the shot, I tweak the colours and the % of illumination used. Give it a go and let me know if it works for you. Here is a quick example I did using Chris 'Evil Genius 180' Martin's 'Stargazer' model. (converted from TrueSpace to Carrara by me). For this, I have no ship lighting (i.e. running lights etc.) just the scene lighting. Rendered in Carrara 8 Pro. No post work. Image 1 is a standard scene light. Image 2 is a 3 Point Light rig. |
