Hyperion Scenes WIP
Sorry they're largish. Two of my new scenes using the Hyperion.

Absolutely beautiful. I like the first one because the unusual angle of the planets and of Hyperion's approach, the wide angle view of the nacelles, and the complete abscence of a lens flare. The second one is also very nice.

I've only just noticed the rings on the near planet in the first pic. You might want to punch up the lighting or color a bit to make them more noticeable. I only saw them where they cross the planet and mistook them for just some dark banding. Dont' resort to lens flares, a thick starfield, or a big nebula (too easy).

Re: pic 2...
Surfboards of the Gods? Sorry. A flashback from my high school days. |
Fantastic scenes. Although I think Masao has to adjust his monitor http://www.startrek-forums.com/gladi...ilies/wink.gif, I have to agree that the rings should be brighter - and a bit noisy.

Okay surfer dudes - scene 1 with brighter and 'rougher' rings.
Note that I did reference real planetary ring photos and the type of resolution that you see on Voyagers intro shot only exist if you are literialy sitting on top of these things. I tried to duplicate the detail seen at the range I am from the planet. 1b Man I have such a bad case of typo-itis lately. Brighter is a better, and following Bernd's suggestion, I also turned up my monitor a bit. I wonder, however, whether the rings would be divided into different colors like that. I thought they would all be one color. Also, I think that at that distance you probably couldn't see individual rocks so the rings wouldn't really appear so rough.
