Hey, welcome back! Howzabout a glow on the nacelles? I can see those christmas lights in there just dying to light up!
|
I THOUGHT you were a member! Welcome, or welcome back.
So, tell us more about this ship! Is it only a constitution class, or is there something unusual that we can't see in this view? Also, I think the font for the lettering is incorrect. I think you're using "Machine" (aka "Federation Hull Font") which was used on the later ERTL model kits but isn't authentic. I'm pretty sure we had a thread about this earlier. (That sort of font may have been good enough for SFA, but it don't fly here at 3DG! http://www.startrek-forums.com/gladi...lies/smile.gif) Finally, is Spacedock TOS? |
Meshula: thanks
It is really synergistic that the stuff over at the other site would happen just as i finish this piece. It was gor the 3dg anyway so i decided to bring it here first. http://www.startrek-forums.com/gladi...lies/smile.gif funny you should mention the glow. I have been toying arounf with A way to make the busards glow but i have not found a sutable solution in MAX. In trueSpace which is my primary software i had sort of a solution but it does not look as nice as a for real glow. Masao: Thanks too When SeanP built her for me he used his ertl kit lettering for the hull lettering so yeah you are right http://www.startrek-forums.com/gladi...lies/smile.gif I am working on texturing her for both MAX and tS so i will prolly wind up changing the font soon. I was wondering about the spacedock too. I asked Warrior and am waiting for a reply. What i figured was that a structure as big as it is would have to have at least been underconstrction during the time when Sojourner went into service (around 2267) ------------------ If you're not ready to die for it, put the word "freedom" out of your vocabulary. More info on USS Sojourner http://www.geocities.com/hitosama170...urner8view.jpg
USS Sojourner NX 1797 Named in honor of black abolitionist/feminist Sojourner Truth. Born into slavery in 1797 and given the name Isabella Van Wagener (Wagener being her owner's last name), this forceful woman was set free in 1827. In the 1840s, she took the name Sojourner Truth and drew crowds with her impassioned speeches about God's greatness and the evils of slavery. Never having learned to read or write, Sojourner dictated her autobiography, "The Narrative of Sojourner Truth," which she sold to support herself. She also added women's rights to her agenda. During an 1851 speech to a women's rights convention, she roused the audience with the words, "Look at me! Look at my arm! I have plowed and planted, and gathered into barns, and no man could head me -- and ain't I a woman?" She continued working for the causes of rights for blacks and women until her death in 1883. A majority of Sojourner’s components (including her primary hull) were build at the San Francisco Navy yards and ferried into orbit where they were assembled in the fleet orbital dry-dock facility. Originally Sojourner was only ment to be a test bed for some of the radical new innovations in starship design, weapons and propulsion technology. In fact the new technology proposed in her construction was so radical that Starfleet command considered making her the flagship of an entire new class (hence the NX registry). But it was later decided that it would be more practical (and economical) to modify and use the well-proven Constitution-class space frame. Sojourner was pressed into active service late in 2267 shortly after fleet strength was reduced in an attack by the malfunctioning M-5 computer during live fire war-game experiments. During that first mission Sojourner and her crew demonstrated their value as a frontline starship and they were placed into regular service. Her Registry would remain NX until sometime after 2273 when she was upgraded to the new Constitution-class Specs. ------------------ If you're not ready to die for it, put the word "freedom" out of your vocabulary. Ok... I got your e-mail about the Space Dock.
Yeah, 1. It's SF-A's, so a no go on using it, and 2. It's from the movie era. We're TOS! *L* http://www.startrek-forums.com/gladi...ies/tongue.gif ------------------ SF-A Senate Member Forum Administrator 3D Gladiators Project Admin "If not for TOS, then there would be no Trek movies, TNG, DS9 or Voyager." Hito, your primary application is trueSpace????
Are you good at modeling in it??? I really hope you are because I have not been able to get a lot of help with it since July when I bought 4.3 and I need someone whose brain I can pick when I have problems. |
If you have a look at my nacelle tutorial, the technique I lay out there works just fine in Max.
|
skyhawk: Modeling is not my strong point i am afraid.
You might have better luck asking SeanR or Solar. THey do fabulous work in tS. also Caligari runs a tS mailing list that you can access at... http://www.caligari.com/help/tsml/TSML.html meshula: Thank you i Will give your tute a shot ------------------ If you're not ready to die for it, put the word "freedom" out of your vocabulary.
