Step One- Read the Category notice in one of the Categories in the Downloads Center.
Step Two- Follow those instructions.

But . . .
Warrior,
I read and understand the agreement that is posted on the downloads section, however, I am still not able to download any of the Startrek files, eventhough I have 8 posts so far. Am I still missing something, or did I not read something right? Shouldn't I be able to download after 5 post on the forum?

Dude, I don't know what the problem is. I made 5 or 6 posts and then downloaded a model. The model itself wasn't compatible with my software, but it downloaded as it should have I use Net Zero and IE 6, by the way.

But now I'm back, . . . from outer space . . . Ooops sorry, wrong line from a different song. LOL
No seriously, I really love this site. I've been telling some of my friends about it. This place is cool.

You're right, it is cool. I was joking about not hearing from you again. Some people do stuff like that. They'll join a site just to leech images and meshes. That's just wrong in my book. Besides, as a modeller, I love feedback on what I'm doing right or wrong from the 3D community here and on SciFi-meshes

Nah, I don't leech, I hate it when people do that to me on my site. Granted they are not meshes, they're just some animations and fonts that I created, but still.
Anyhow, unfortunatly I am just a beginner in the world of 3D. Still trying to figure out how to really even get started. I would love to see some tutorials on how things were done from creation to end.

I've been doing 3D art for about 5 or 6 years, but I feel like a novice myself sometimes, especially when I see some of the work on this site and others. As for tutorials, I haven't seen if they have any here, but scifi-meshes.com has a whole forum with those. I don't know if you've been there or not.

evil_genius_180, I have been to sci-fi meshes site, but have not checked their tutorials, I will check them out. Thanks for the tip.
Warrior, at the moment I have 3D Max 7, Poser 6 and Vue 5 Infinite. Getting TrueSpace soon. Not sure why I got all of them, just was mesmorized by what I saw here I guess

Wow. With Max 7, there'd really be no need for tS.

Warrior's got a point. TS is pretty nice, but there are some wierd things it does. From the sound of things, people who use Max (any version) don't have some of the issues we TS users have. I use it because it was free and my computer is old and TS keeps its system requirements low

Max is better than TS, wow, I had no idea. As I said, I am a complete newbie so to speak. My problem is, I guess I am a little impatient when it comes to modeling, I want to be able to see the result as I am working on it. I have yet to be able to figure how to do that in Max. Vue 5 lets you see it as you built.
Then the other thing that is most important, and I have yet to figure out also in Max, is lighting ofcourse. That makes all the difference. Right now, I am surfing to sci-fi meshes to see what tutorials there are. Wish me luck!

Max is probably the third best modeling program, behind Lightwave and the newer mojo (very similar to Lightwave, even to the point of using Lightwave's file format).
But then, I'm biased, being a Lightwave user

Lightwave is to go if you really want to do some serious modeling. I have Max7 and Lightwave8.5 while betaing 9.0
I use only Max7 for conversion, and modeling with Tutorials specific to Max7.
Other than that I always seem to fall back to modeling in Lightwave, because I guess that's the one I started and is much more fun to use.
Modeling dudes.

Yeah, LW and Max are the high-end programs, though LW seems to be the better one. As for TS, it's more high middle-of-the-road. Of course, I haven't used the newest versions, I'm still on an older one
LW is what a lot of effects houses use, like the one that did "The Lord of the Rings" movies. It's definitely for the hardcore modelers that want movie-quality effects. But, I think a lot of newer users find it a good program too. Eventually, I'm gonna get a new PC and LW

Actually, I just remembered the battle scene from "The Two Towers" was actually a program called Darkwave, but it was by the same company. I know the used Lightwave also, though

Fairly easy. Max was/is a disaster for me, as is tS (I have Max 3, Max 7 and tS 5 on the ol PC for conversion purposes).
