Soveriegn class?
Wonder if a crew of modelers here would work together to create a realy perfect soveriegn mesh, Maybe it's a challenge but why not?
think anyone can make a decent nurb Soveriegn modeled down to the windows?

I can think of a few people who COULD - but whether they would be willing to undertake it is another story...

There's a near perfect Sovy that is currently available for download in the forums over at Scifi-meshes, although it is very memory heavy.
There may also be another coming soon (modeled using splines) that will be modeled down to the windows.

As flattered as I am, it's not a perfect mesh, although it is great for distance shots. It's also a bit memory heavy too.
The next one will be far more acurate and less of a memory hog, now that I can acutally model using splines.
It'll have a surprise feature too...

The mesh Alex referred is pretty accurate. Actually, you can get up close and personal. However, the geometry is a big fat mess icne it came from Rhino.
Anyway, the Max version is available at SFM. The Lightwave version may become available in future. We'll see.
Here's the LWO....

PS: It has a removable captain's yacht, shutllebays 1 and 2 with doors.

My problem with the (excellent) sovy mesh over at SFM is that it's (almost) impossible to change the registry.
Fortunatly my version of the Sovy has a yaght (Although I had to remove it for the released version because it's not mine) and shuttle bay one can be opened.

Alex,
Not really. It's actually fairly simple. I did it for Sarod's voyager. It just takes a bit of fooling around. However, Isidor has requested that this NOT be done. So I won't be making any alternates available.
I've spent about 2 weeks slowly reducing the poly count and improving the polygon for the ship. As well as stitching up the holes left by Rhino. Rather than 1.1 million, it's not down to about 480000 which is a simewhat significant improvement.
I may also do a Truespace version when I'm finished but that'll be for Sean only.
Anyway, I like yours. It's not so poly heavy. Keep up the good work.
Regards
Matt

Ahh! That explains why it's such a wierd mesh!
Didn't realise that it was Rhino converted to Max.
