Default Colony Mars

Colony Mars

This was created as a 21st century colony ship for Mars. It's capacity is between 10,000 and 20,000 colonists. It has a crew of about 100. The colonists live in the "fins" which rotate about the core to create artificial gravity. The bridge zone and command section (forward) has no gravity.

-----------

Render made in Blender.

- Ship is my design.
- Planet textures were created by someone else, but the originate with NASA photographs. I have no idea who made them anymore - I got them over a year ago.
- Ship textures are my own.
- Nebula is my own.

Nice to see a Blender supporter out there . So, the gravity would be Mars gravity, right?

Not sure...it would probably be set as a transitional gravity so that the colonists adjust over the trip from Earth to Mars.

Verry nice... If I might be so bold, though... is it possible to use gradient maps for transparency in Blender? Because if it is, there should be a way for you to improve the look of your martian atmosphere.

You can, but I've never had great luck getting good transparency effects in Blender.

I don't have a martian atmosphere map unfortunately - the only atmosphere I have is for earth...which would look odd on mars
