Default Once again, attempting a webcomic...

This time graphically

These are two characters. The one in the red is based on me. The one in the grey is based on my good friend Chaz Master Flex... er, Charlie. These are just two examples(and yes, the hands really are going to be that simple)

The way this comic will work is through laziness. Characters have blank faces and no arms. Arms are kept in a seperate file. I will draw the facial expressions and add arms in each panel, thus making it a hell of a lot easier to change position, since time and motivation were what killed my last comic.

Plots will appear and disappear, since what killed my last comic was trying to have one big adventure that the characters were based around. This comic's a talkie- I want use of language to play a big part in all of this, but as the greatest cartoonist said, "If all one is trying to do is illustrate a joke, he or she will lose." I need to put effort into every comic, so it won't just be visually a rushed collection of recycled elements.

I wanted to do a comic about myself and my friends- we have this weird sense of humour which is at once wry and at once in-your-face. I want to share that Plotlines will sometimes be made up, sometimes be real-life events that made me step back and want to replay them, as so often happens going to my school.

As soon as I can find a suitable host, this thing starts. And as for simplicity... I think it works just as long as it's bold... as long as the colours are intense, the outline is definite and striking and the expressions are always painstakingly crafted.

Default Further character design...

He's a funny guy... this is D-Turl... probably going to appear less frequently than most of the characters, but I feel he should go in there.

They've been my obsession Try it- for two months I carried a sketchbook with me wherever I went, and I drew people. On the bus I drew the back of people's heads or their profiles. In class I drew people sitting across from me. At home I'd draw my family and when I was with friends I'd draw them. You'll pick it up if you just keep looking- then creating them from imagination will be no trouble.

(The comic, as befits the attire, will be known as Baggy Jeans)

Last visual preview I'm going to give anyone, this is Bootsie the Clown, the god of a dark and ancient civilization who has returned to gather the descendants of the tribe who once worshipped him, have them bring him sacrifices for mana and reign over the world with total omnipotence.

BOOTSIE DEMANDS BLOOD.

Unfortunately, this comic can't come until Keenspace finishes it's new backend or someone points me in the direction of another webcomic host. :/ But we'll see. I'll try to run out a few and post 'em here.

I dunno about that Keenspace sight... :/:

It seems that you could do a better, more reader-friendly site for it is all. How about I come up with a web-page design for you? If you like it, I'll host the comic for you. (I still have plenty of space to use, after all...)

Now that is a sweet layout o.o But this would only be possible if you knew how to archive comics etc... which I'm definitely not putting past you. ^_^ Thankyou, it's a wonderful gesture.

(To help me and Chaz look a little more diverse in the comic, his character has been slightly changed. Up on the first post is where you can see this)

Well, here's a functional test of the design I posted before. See what you think of it.

http://www.phoenixstudiosonline.com/baggy/

Each strip would be saved as STRIP001.JPG, STRIP002.JPG, etc.

Using frames, there would be very little to update when a new strip was finished. Just upload the new STRIP file, replace the appropriate filename in the STRIP00X.html template and add an entry to the ARCHIVE page, and you're good to go.

for liz' vizor chicken cartoon my brother quickly coded a page that make supdating very easy. all we have to do is upload a new cartoon. the filename has to be the one's of the last cartoon (eg. 001.jpg) plus one (eg. 002.jpg).
the rest is done automatically.
interested?

Hey, even if we don't go with my design, I've at least learned to work with frames, which I never messed with before.

Chris, I'd love to get a look at the templates Rico made. I'm relatively new to HTML coding, and looking to learn whatever I can.

Damn - I need to stop trying to do this right before I go to work. I skimmed the post too fast.

Maybe it's a good opportunity for me to start speaking in the third person...
