USS Pacific
Hey kids!
After a 2 month modeling hiatus, I am back. Starting off with the Ocean class USS Pacific. That tail section was very difficult to get and it still is not right, but if I play with it anymore, it will look even worse.

Nice start and looking forward to seeing this one come along. It's only been two months? I think I've forgotten how to model!
Keep up the good work!!

Welcome back to the game, Skyhawk. If you need any other views for this ship, please ask.

Thanks guys. Did some more work over the weekend but forgot to bring a picture to upload. It's looking a bit slimmer than the drawings but that makes it look a bit speedier, hence, I like it.
Began work on the texture maps on Saturday. Fun fun.
Not a whole lot more detail wise to do. I may add some RCS thrusters and other nick nacks here and there.
Masao, what font did you use?

Thomas, it all comes back once you fire up the ol' app.
Are you ready for real Winters? Memphis can get pretty icy. It's in that part of the country where the warm air meets cooler air masses leading to icing in the Winter and "interesting" weather in the summer. Does your house or the barn have a cellar or basement?

In typical lazy-ass TOS style I didn't put on much details, so you'll have to go to town on the textures! It does have a few RCS thrusters. The font is the same as always, Amarillo Pro.

I was wrong on the font. I guess I should have looked at the schematic. It's actually Microgramma Bold Extended.

It didn't look like Amarillo from the earlier postings. I used one of the Trek fonts that looked close. Take a look:

Cool
Looks nice, the font is well done. Some smoothing on that front nose cap is in order.

I didn't detail the attachment for the nacelle supports on my drawings, so you're on your own there. But the attachment is pretty plain. I might suggest making the supports a bit thicker.

Roger on both. I'm not at all happy with the nose cone.
Right now the pylons are just flattened cylinders. They will get some detail work coming up.
What do you guys think of the placement of the bridge module? Too far back? Good where it is?

I like the bridge placement. Asking like that opens you open to frustration you know as we'll just start giving advice!

I try to be as true to the schematics as possible.
I welcome any and all advice. If I know how to put the advice in place, I typically do it, especially when it is from you guys.
I still want to try the warp effect that Scaramanga uses, ie. shooting particles past the object. Perhaps this weekend...

Oops! He has not read my last PM to him
I have a new host provider and he uploaded to the old server. I had not disconnected it yet in case there are any 'teething' problems with the new one. Just transferred the image to the server.

Ah, it's loading now. That's a nice big nose you got there! The subtle texture looks good.

I hear the same thing from my wife all the time, or at least the first part of your statement...

So, your nose is large, but it's not so fine?

Skyhawk, I was going to say something inappropriate about your wife, but I remembered that I am a gentlemen! Darn!

Thank you Thomas. I will pass along your gracious comment.
And as for you Masao, pray I don't unleash her fury upon you. She can be quite fierce.
Now, back to our regularly scheduled program.
I rendered up some nice shots of the close to completion Pacific last night. Stupidly I forgot to bring them with me to upload. You all will just have to wait until tomorrow.

Hey, what'd I say??? I plead (or at least, feign) innocence, or maybe ignorance!!!
Looking forward to the updated renders, Skyhawk.
Edited to sharpen my cutting wit.

Ouch, that's sharp!
I'm thinking of adding some windows here and there, perhaps on the upper surface on the front half. Nothing major, just a few here and there. Here you go...

RCS thrusters. There are 4 in total so far. Need some on the rear or on the nacelles.
