Now *that* is an awesome image.
Is that V'gre available for DL, and is it available in LW if it is available for DL?

That is very nice. and nicely complements T. Combs' pic of the Enterprise approaching V'ger (he used Riley's model, as well).

Actually, it's an instrument called the "blasterbeam" that Jerry Goldsmith likes to include in a lot of his film scores. Not sure how it works, but it's made of artillery shells.
That is a thing of beauty, Ebolii! Any chance there's a bigger version? My computer could use a new desktop. :p

Actually Jerry Goldsmith onely ever used the Blaster beam in TMP, and has said he doesn't plane on useing it agin.
The shell has pick ups on the inside and is slid up and down a steel cable, that is all that I know, but it was really cool. It was also used in treks II and III by Horner.

Blaster Beam
This instrument was created by Craig Hundley.
The instrument is around 14 foot long, and was made from highly polished artillery shell casings, and used rotating magnets in some way.
Star Trek: The Motion Picture has probably the most prominent use of the instrument, and it was used in Meteor, The Black Hole (John Barry), Star Trek II and Star Trek III (both by James Horner) to my knowlege.
In TPM, it was used to symbolize V'ger and the barran, alien nature of logic without feeling.
Also, Craig Hundley appeared in one of the Original Series Episodes as a kid, billed under the name Craig Huxley. I can't remember which one.
The sound quality on the soundtrack is still amazing, even compared to scores recorded much later. The music also speaks for itself.
EBOLII, you could try adding some film grain to the cloud, and perhaps blurring it a little. This might make it look closer to the movie.
Great image, BTW.
