USS Miami closeup
I didn't like how this turned out, so I cropped it a bit. The background planet is Mars, but it didn't stand up to the resolution required, so I cropped it out.

Looking great so far dude!
Just one or two suggestions:
It looks like the red Nav light on the left hand side of the mesh is a spotlight as it casts a lit cone onto the top saucer - you might want to change that as nav lights tend to be omni directional or point lights.
The subdivsion on the saucer looks great nice and smooth - spot on - however your deflector looks a bit faceted?
If this is actually intentional then just ignore! LOL.
Otherwise give it a few more sides to make it nice and smooth - the best way to do your deflector is with the lathe tool! Try it

Oh yeah another tip for your planet renders
make sure there is no anti aliasing on the planet texture surface at all as this will make it look terrible when you render anti aliased.
Also if you use Lightwave - deactivate pixel blending and ensure you use a nice high res map - this will let the planet stand up to high res close-up shots.

Thanks for the comments; now my response:
1. The lights are point lights but for some reason cast a strange, conelike pattern on the saucer from certain angles. Probably the phong setting on the saucer texture.
2. The deflector is faceted here. I fixed that subsequently.
3. As far as the rendering, I have no control over what to AA and what not to in an image. MORAY doesn't give me that control.
Same goes for the other Lightwave related stuff in your post.
Here is another image...

Suggestion- Registry name and number should be up on the saucer more, not down on the flatter part of it.

Thanks. I will move them up a bit. I think the name should be bigger, also.

Skyhawk - gimme some details on what version of MORAY you're using - cos I have a converter that WILL handle MORAY format
so you could if wanted progress to Lightwave or as a first step Inspire like QuantumSS and still get to work with your old MORAY stuff.
