Re: Klingon Bird of Pray Bridge
Black backgrounds I think .. I will be making the control surfaces .. but if you have an idea for a texture .. I can use that on the surface .. .
I hope to send you the rough build tomorrow night ... you can see then .. and if the scales work for you ..
the crew man I have in the images is from POSER

Re: Klingon Bird of Pray Bridge
Ok so then instead of me making -say - whole 'weapons' control screen, I should just make 'sub screens' that would go on the big screen?
Like, I should make some 'open app' windows and not the whole thing?

Re: Klingon Bird of Pray Bridge
This is what I'm on at the moment.
Am I goind the right direction?
If not, you can let me know - I take direction well.
I haven't put any details in yet.
But before I go much further (and perhaps end up in the weeds) am I going the direction you're envisioning?
I recognized the Poser guy.
That's good though because it means we're building to scale and that makes it 100x easier on me when I import my 'actors' into the scene.

Re: Klingon Bird of Pray Bridge
Ok, whenever you're ready to do a quick test and send something my way - let me know and we can do it via MSN instant mess.
Heck, if you send my one tonight (even rough) I can get a handle on setting up some temp stuff on this end.
I can't tell ya how excited I am doing this.
I'm really having a blast.

Ok. That works for me too.
I need to take off for the night as well.
I'll be back though in about 4-5 hours and I'll start back on the computer screens.

Re: Klingon Bird of Prey Bridge
That's going to look great.
They changed the bridge for almost every part of ST. First there was the one from STIII/IV, then the one from STV/VI, and last the one from TNG/DS9.
Like all of them.

Re: Klingon Bird of Prey Bridge
Yeah, Klingon bridges are cool, no matter what movie or show you're watching. And we have TMP to thank for it all because that set the Klingon interior style that they used in almost every Klingon interior (except the BOP bridge in STIII.)
Looks friggin' fantastic, Ger.

Re: Klingon Bird of Prey Bridge
Was just looking at the screengrabs of the movies again, to see that the Klingon bridge in STIII is different from the one in STIV, when it should be the same, LOL.
Anyway, if you decide to do the bridge from ST III, take a look what the japanese guy did with it: http://fesarius.hp.infoseek.co.jp/klingonbop.shtml
Now back to your model, ceiling? that would be a "checkered frame" "wireframe", don't know how to call it in english, beams/rods crossing eachother, so you will get a checkerd shadow pattern when the light goes through.

Re: Klingon Bird of Prey Bridge
Thanks for the images.
I've been using some from one of the films. I thought it was 3 but it's very red/orange and those mesh images don't look like my refrence pics. I 've been looking at some imges in Photoshop and trying my best to recreate them. This will help me with the textures.
Oh, in case you didn't know - I'm doing the texture maps for this mesh.
-- Ok, I just found info on the screen caps I've been using, they're from ST:V
Here's some of the images.
http://www.3dgladiators.net/forums/s...ad.php?t=22870
And Hey, WJaspers - I've been using your ST6 bridge for an animated project.
There's a couple of images of it a little further down the same thread.
It's going to look awesome in the animation. Thanks for sharing it and I'll make sure you're given plenty of credit (opening & closing titles) for your work.

Paramount changed them much, so I think it wouldn't hurt if you took some liberty recreating them

Yes I know, best meshes are created this way, one to model, one to texture.
(I am always jalous of people who can actually do both)

Saw the images from STV, and also the STVI bridge renders you did, VERY good
Oh, btw, the word for the ceiling I was looking for would be "grating". It applies for the TNG/DS9 bridge. The bridgeceiling (partly) can be seen in STV when Spock is the gunner, and some pieces of it in STVI.

Re: Klingon Bird of Prey Bridge
That lighting effect can also be seen in TOS near the turboshaft doors.
I use a grating gel a spotlight in front of the doors and I get a really good effect.
When it comes to the BOP bridge shots I figure we're going to look over as many images as we can and decide what looks best. Something I've noticed in the ST:V images is that it looks like somebody on the BOP bridge is a chain-smoker. LOL!
I'm going to experiment with volumetric clouds on the BOP bridge to see if I can get that same effect - and if so - does it improve the shot or not.
It's funny really - I started off doing a couple of minutes of EG's reImagined connie then it sort of grew a bit and now that Taranis is building the BOP bridge it's being written into something more along the lines of 10 minutes or so.
Pretty cool really - It's sort of like a website project when you think about how many people here have knowingly (and some unknowingly) contributed to this.

Re: Klingon Bird of Prey Bridge
Looks fantastic.
I think I need to redo the computer screens for the 'edge' (I don't know what to call them at the moment) surface computers.
If you think so let me know - It might take me a couple of days to make it look good though.

I think I'm going to have to put a lot more work into the computer textures to come closer to the quality of the mesh.
