Yes...It seems to have worked???
I'm not that good yet at texturing in Max..But I ran this thru 3 D Explorer..Then thru 3D Windows glide the back thru 3 D explorer..When I saved it as .3ds right out of 3D Windows glide it seemed to have lost the mapping cooridnates...
But all the Errors were gone...
I don't think it was a fluke just something about the way 3D windows glide smooth's the meshes....

patience m'boy. I'm sortaa doing Uni work and trying to figure out how to export the lights at the same time. Tough... unless you want to have a version without lights, which is as sucky as suck can be, frankly.

Thing is, .3ds stores the light objects but it'll ditch any custom settings like having them effect only certain objects..

Appearently, all links to all MAX conversions are broken/dead/offline. PLEASE, FOR HEAVENS'S SAKE, FOR ALL SACRED THINGS ON EARTH INCLUDING ST:TNG, SOMEONE FIX US SOME MAX CONVERSION (falls down to his knees crying convulsively)...
Have I been dramatic enough?
Serious, though, I lost it AND all SFA's meshes during my last emergency formatting... please help me rebuild my life!

Screw MAX3. What we need is a MAX 2.5 version.

Dan did a conversion some time ago, as you can see uptopic, but those links are dead now. If I can get an active link I can add a copy of his conversion to my download page (which I *know* I keep saying I'm going to update...) .

Dennis,
That would be great! I hope you can find some server space to upload it. I have converted the basics from your Lightwave model into 3DS using 3D Explorer, but some of the faces end up screwed up and the texture map coordinates are lost.
But boy from what DID load in, its a beauty for sure! I'm actually trying to make my own Enterprise mesh, but I'm a newbie to MAX modeling and am learning as I go. Just out of curiousity, can I ask you for some modeling advice on this ship? I know you use Lightwave, but some of the strategies would sure be helpful. If you're too busy, I certainly understand.
Thanks for making such a beautiful model, and making it public.

I have what I beleive is Dan's conversion. It's actually really well done, cept of course there's no registry slapped on it Dennis, if you want it I could U/L it to you.

I'd very much appreciate that, thanks. Which version of Max is that?
I have a potential solution to the registry problem which I'll propose to Dan shortly.
Thanks again.
