Default Enterprise 1701: What the hell...?

I'm trying to finish the meshwork on my model of the Enterprise (no bloody A, B, C, etc.), and I am stumped on how to create the little thing on the back of the upped saucer, which apparently has something to do with holding the saucer onto the dorsal. Any clues as to how to model this puppy?
