COOL Firefly returning to cable

http://insidetv.ew.com/2011/02/17/firefly-returns/

Awesome. Though I have it on DVD, for those that don't, they will be able to watch it on cable.

Yeah, Firefly! That reminds me, it's about time to pull out my DVDs and watch the series again.

I wonder if Serenity is a part of the cable package.

The episode or the movie? (assuming you mean the movie) That's a good question. Though I don't consider it to be as good as the series, it's still good and it's part of the story, so airing it would make sense. Of course, there is the problem of two different studios at work between the series and the movie.

If it's played as a movie of the week type of thing that, coincidentally, just happens to be after the last ep, then a diff studio package is workable

I checked out the link and that is very good news. Firefly was a victim of the Fox programming mentality that if it wasn't an instant hit, you can it quick. I was just starting to really get into the TV show when they canned it. Hopefully the Sci-Fi chanell will have the common sence to move that WWE pohdoo to late night mondays and give FireFly the prime time Friday 7:00PM time slot.

Sci-Fi (SyFy) Channel has nothing to do with this.

It's the Science Channel

It was worse than that. Fox didn't like the 2-hour pilot episode Serenity. They thought it was too slow and wouldn't draw people in. So, they had Joss Whedon make The Train Job and aired that first as the "pilot," even though it wasn't the pilot and shouldn't have been aired first. Serenity explained mostly who everyone was and why they were on the ship, The Train Job didn't. After that, they purposefully aired the episodes in a jumbled order so that the more action-packed episodes were first because they thought that was what people wanted. But that didn't make sense to anybody because, even though the series wasn't a continuing story, there were things that carried over from episode to episode. So, they basically set the series up for failure right from the start.

Fortunately, I was in the US Army and deployed to Afghanistan at the time and missed the whole run of the series on Fox. Then, a few years ago, after Warrior told me about the series, I tried it on DVD. This was fortunate because I got to watch them in their intended order and it makes sense. I'm glad for that because it's one of the best Sci-Fi series ever made, IMO, much better than Whedon's other shows.

No chance that I or a lot of other fans will get to watch new eppisodes as they premier cause it's on digital cable. Guess We'll have to look for another venue to see it thru.

Get the DVDs. Not that expensive at all.

The DVDs are a must-have. I like to schedule my own Firefly marathons whenever I feel like with no commercials. Plus, like Warrior said, they're not that expensive.

Unless Joss Whedon still owns the rights to Firefly, it would be hard to move it to a new network unless the Fox CEOs suddenly grow a heart of gold, which is unlikely. So, he's kind of screwed if Fox has the rights. Besides, it wouldn't be the same without Nathan Fillion and he's on the show Castle on ABC now.
