Re: Starwars TV series
I read an article a while ago that George Lucas wasn't going to continue the series after episode III. Guess he changed his mind.

Re: Starwars TV series
That's because all George can do that doesn't completely suck is Star Wars and Indiana Jones. His other two movies that I've seen are horrible. (I didn't even finish watching his very first movie because it was so bad.)
I would actually like to see some later or earlier Star Wars hit the big screen. The problem I've been having is that he's stuck in the Clone Wars. He can't seem to get past that. Between the movies, books, comics and games, the Clone Wars have been more than covered, IMO.

After having seen prequels them you, you think that a series about Star Wars is really interesting?

Last I heard was September 2007 (though obviously that ship has sailed.) I wonder what the freakin' holdup is. They should just start it so it can suck and then flop and George Lucas can give up on this silly TV idea and finally move on to some Episode 7, 8 & 9 movies.
|
George is such a liar. I saw an interview not to long ago where he said that he only ever planned to do 6 movies and never was going to be 9. I know he said 9 way back when.
Liar!
Of course if they were going to suck ....

Re: Starwars TV series
IIRC I read an article years ago where he stated that he only thought about the idea of 9 movies, IF he had the time to do that many.
Well, with the long delay between '84 and '97, he had worked on so much other stuff (Howard the Duck, Indy Jones 2 & 3, The Young Indy Chronicles) that he learned and developed new filming techniques and methods which led to his being able to tweak the original SW trilogy with the "new at the time" (in the late 90's) CG technology. With the success of the enhanced OT in the theaters, he realized he had the opportunity to do the first three installments (TPM, AotC, and RotS), but so much time had passed, that he knew, with the 3 year gap between installments (due to post-prod. work), that doing 7, 8 and 9 wouldn't be feasable (after all, he's not getting younger, none of us are :P).
He recently revealed the news that he's going to retire from film-making, and has named Kathleen Kennedy to take the reigns of his Lucasfilm Empire, so there's no way we'll ever see a post-Jedi trilogy.

Re: Starwars TV series
You mean like in the New Jedi Order series of books?
Sorry, but with George Lucas being the putz that he is, that's probably the best you're going to get.

Re: Starwars TV series
It's very well done and the animation is top notch. I just don't think it's as funny as it thinks it is and shoots it self in the foot by trying to be cool. (just my opinion.)

Yeah, some of it was stupid. However, some of it was really funny. I also liked the Indiana Jones fedora bit. I also liked where Obi-Wan was telling Qui-Gon's ghost to go haunt someone else.

Re: Starwars TV series
For what it's worth, the notion has been floated before that Timothy Zahn's Heir to the Empire trilogy of books are considered the honorary episodes 7, 8, and 9. I can't imagine a more fitting continuation of the saga than that, so if you haven't read them you should...they're terrific books.

Re: Starwars TV series
Those were the first books written that take place after the trilogy and definitely some of the best Star Wars books out there. I've always considered them to be 7, 8 and 9 myself.

Re: Starwars TV series
I've never seen it.
I'll tell you what I'd like to see: an Old Republic movie. For those not familiar with the Knights of the Old Republic games, they take place "just after" wars. In the original game (circa 4,000 years before Star Wars) there's a war going on between Jedi and "Sith" but there was a war between the Republic and Mandalorians five years earlier. That would make a cool movie, I think. Also, in the latest game, (the MMORPG The Old Republic) the intro video shows the start of a war and two other videos (one for each faction) show parts from the war. All 3 videos are really badass, better than anything Lucas has been putting out in movie/TV form. The game, meanwhile, takes place after that war, when the Jedi and Sith are more or less at "peace." (ha ha) So, there's potential there for a movie.
This is one of the videos I'm talking about :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MfNhs6sh3_Q
To me, that's some of the best Star Wars action ever and it's only 6 minutes long. (of course, if they adapted it into a movie, it would probably suck)

hi all newely user,
just an add on this i know its long over due, but now that disney took over the star wars franschise the live action series has been on the scapbook for the moment, what i want to know what the fans are thinking of the news disney had brought into the oen with the new movie that continous after the defeat of the empire? i already heard that mark hamill is thinking of coming back for his last time play as luke skywalker.
personally i like your idea on this story partm lets us show how it all started.
also wasnt yoda by then a bad guy, since he almost known everything of the darkside?
i think the holiday special was made or ment to be in the middle of the empires strikes back, since it was the introduction of boba fett.
strangely though it has never been brought on tapes or dvd.
