Hello all, tgep here.
I joined this site because making 3d models is a hobby of mine and I love sci-fi. I'm always on the look out for new ideas for my next project or what not.

Good to be here.
If you go to my Multiply site,
http://tgep.multiply.com
You can see some of my ongoing projects and some completed stuff as well. I also have screen shots of Jon Marcures work there as well as I am a beta tester for his add-ons for Orbiter spaceflight sim.
All my photo albums are the section I call Poobahs Eye Candy.

Re: New Member Welcome Thread
Very nice .... but I must inform you that no discussion or art of Battlestar Galactica is permitted here.
The Classic BSG is discussed over at
http://www.colonialfleets.com/forums/ our sister site-
The new BSG is not discussed there
but art from both shows are allowed ..
all other shows scifi are shown here.......
Nice body of work, hope that you will post your non bsg work here sometime.....
Welcome aboard

You have other projects on your site ....
Star Trek
Buck Rogers
ETC
This is fine no problem. its just that no BSG related art or discussion are permitted here, but at Colonial Fleets. our sister site... once it was part of this site but came to big so it was split into its own
so we like to have only BSG work there and every thing else here..

Thanks for the welcome. Nice place you got here.
What's the deal with submissions and how closely they have to stick to their reference series?

submissions.
For images. All images have to have credits unless in a WIP thread. No Battlestar Galactica, No adult images.
If you have your own take on a series thats fine ...
Original scifi is also welcome.
if you can tell us more we can be more specific

Re: New Member Welcome Thread
Hey everyone! I'm Jason, currently working on a Jedi Academy (game) mod with a cool team and looking to learn more about some of the applications I use:
Photoshop
Poser
Milkshape
And I guess I'm just starting with 3DS max too, though I find it remarkably unintuitive.

Re: New Member Welcome Thread
Thanks for the welcome Would General Discussion be an appropriate place to offer to recruit talent for my team? Are there rules regarding links to non-affiliated sites etc?
It's all no pay, just for fun and all above board.

General Discussions is fine

I've never used it but I find it to be remarkably expensive. $3500 for software is outrageous, IMO, especially since you can get Lightwave for $900. Both are used as professional applications, so I don't get the price jump. But that's just my opinion. Welcome to the site.

Re: New Member Welcome Thread
Hi. I render in Daz3D and Gimp. I love scifi and found this site while browsing around for scifi models. I also play tabletop RPGs and am thinking of rendering some stuff for a game as handouts. Fellow gaming nerds will understand.

I know this was in reply to someone else but does this mean if I post an image I need to say where I got the models and such? Most of mine are bought at Daz3D/RuntimeDna/Rendorosity but I also snag free models from various places and honestly, I don't really remember what came from where.

Thank you. I'm mostly a renderer. I don't really have the skills to model. I have an ipad so I place my renders on it and show them to my friends that way!

its not so much where you got them, but who made them ...
Quote:
Step one- Post an image of it and see if anyone recognizes it.
Step two- Until you know who created it, when using it in your work, place the credit as "Such and such mesh by UNKNOWN"
This way, people know you aren't trying to take credit for work not your own

That makes sense. I just make renders for fun with no intention of making money or anything so I haven't really tracked stuff like who made it. Especially with the free stuff.

I understand that ,,,, in most of the 3d files here and else where most model makers want there name used in the credits in whatever image or animation you make....
I used to render more image but now I make models and want to see my credit in such... and I see it as a partnership... for you to do what you do you need those like me.... and for me to see it come alive in an image I need those like you...
or I have to render myself again....
