Re: New Member Welcome Thread
Hi, I'm not actually a new member as such, I used to post with a different name (I'd done things with TrueSpace including a Snowspeeder a Tardis and a Starship I called The Vienna http://a6.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...1_938517_n.jpg ), but I haven't used my old account for so long I can't remember how log into it anymore!
Anyway its nice to be back

Re: New Member Welcome Thread
Hi Guys!
Name's Diel (I meant to use Dielinfinite as my username but I didn't notice I left out the t) anyways, I just joined up.
I've been done 3D art for a few years. I have a B.S. in Film Production where I used Maya for a single class and really enjoyed it. After I graduated I went back to school and got a B.S. in Game Art & Design where I learned 3DSMax (my preferred program), Maya, zbrush, along with photoshop for texturing and UDK for building real-time scenes.
I haven't done much 3D modeling recently. Since I graduated I've gotten more into Game Design and management as opposed to art and what little free time I get I usually spend watching movies or playing games. One hobby that I took up late last year and have had a ton of fun keeping up with is building scale models, mostly of Star Trek ships.
I actually stumbled upon this site while looking for reference on the NV-01 Intrepid from Enterprise and I decided to join up to see and comment on the other cool 3D work you guys do here!

Thanks a lot for the welcome and the name fix! I just figured I'd have to live with signing in wrong the first time every time since I'm so used to Dielinfinite!

Re: New Member Welcome Thread
I'm new here, the screen name's KnightStalker. It's a 'play-on-words' reference to Mandalorians (Boba Fett, Jango Fett, Kal Skirata, etc.) ie. 'Jedi Knight hunter'. The K and S are capitalized intentionally, as they are also my initials, reversed. I've been using the same screen name online everywhere pretty much since 2001.
I'm a big sci-fi geek (yeah, okay, I admit it, I'm a nerd like y'all are :P), but my biggest three SF interests are Star Wars, Robotech and Star Trek. I usually use my own custom avatar online, but I didn't see the option to upload one, or you'd see a pic of my over there <---- in a set of custom Mando armor I used to own (long story on how it ceased being in my possession).
I first started tinkering around with D|S 2 and then 3, switched to Carrara 6, but I lost my computers nearly 2 years ago. I recently purchased a new laptop and have been rebuilding my library of 3D content, and I currently have Carrara 8.5 Pro Build 149 (still in beta) installed, as I re-work the stuff I had been initially creating for an upcoming project of mine.

Re: New Member Welcome Thread
Welcome to the forums. Unfortunately, the forum has been having image uploading problems for several months now. So, nobody can upload any images, including custom avatars, not even the staff. And, as we don't have a clue what's causing the issue, we don't know how to fix it.

Re: New Member Welcome Thread
Hi,
I'm Abashful1 and I have, thus far used mostly Poser in my works and even then used mostly items I have purchased. I have several programs to make my own stuff including Hexagon, Bryce, and Blender but have never had the time or energy left to really learn how to use them. As it is I still am learning things about Poser Pro 2012.
My interests, in both story and renders, have been mainly in superheroes, mind control, fantasy, and science fiction but as someone that has worked at NASA for almost 30 years I have a deep love of space exploration; both in the real world and in the imagination.
I have a deviantart page where you can find some of my renders. Please feel free to check them out at: http://abashful1.deviantart.com/

Re: New Member Welcome Thread
Hi,
I mainly render in DAZ Studio, and sometimes Poser, one of these days I'll move to something more heavy, maybe Lightwave. I have been at it, on and off, since late 2007. I even tried a graphic novel once: Valeria — never dd finish it.

Re: New Member Welcome Thread
Thanks for the welcome,
I am actually working in another graphic novel idea, one in a sci-fi setting. I have the beginning of the story, just have to develop more and just have to experiment with several render shots to see if I can get a consistent look throughout. It will be a long one, so I have to be sure I will follow thru.
