Thank You!
I've been working in the earth-romulan war timeframe, so it's been exciting that there's not a lot of established canon or references, but also frustrating for the same reasons.
Out of curiousity, I haven't seen anything related to a fiction or writing area in the forums, is there such a category that I'm just completely too blind to find?

Romulan War...... sounds good, you have a lot of freedom creating something new.
You can post in On The Horizon section for now... if it grows perhaps a new and more devoted section can be created....

Re: New Member Welcome Thread
New member here. Used to do a lot of work in the formerly-known-as Pro/ENGINEER and 3DS Max, but I haven't done anything in quite some time. Decided recently that I want to learn Lightwave and have been looking for a starting point ... so here I am. Looking forward to the journey.

Re: New Member Welcome Thread
Hello all. I stumbled in here and so thought I'd sign up. I started modelling using dkbtrace (the program that gave rise to POV-ray) on an Amiga 1000. Back then a decent sized render would take > 8 hours, and CSG modelling imposed some interesting limitations. I managed a vaguely respectable Thunderbird 3.
Things have come a long way since then!

Hey, pleased to meet you.
I'm french, old and planetoloqist. I had used 3D computing from 1981 in earth exploration.
I like SF story and I think that all descriptions of planets are not false.
Thanks
Isher

Re: New Member Welcome Thread
Hello!
I'm Brazilian and have been around for a couple years, mainly on game modding communities and the ST: Excalibur project.
I work with 3d viz for architecture (I'm architect), but love doing Sci-Fi stuff in 3D.. It's a passion.
Pleased to meet everyone!

Re: New Member Welcome Thread
Welcome to the site. Architecture definitely sounds like a great field to work in. I took a drafting class in high school, but I never pursued it. Though, I definitely share the passion for 3D Sci-Fi stuff. Did you do any work for the Excalibur project? I've been kinda following that project. (I check for news every once in a while) I'm looking forward to seeing their films.

We may not be referring to the same excalibur here.. Until I was forced to take a break from it Excalibur, I was Lead artist of the project, but my excalibur is a game

Re: New Member Welcome Thread
Yep, definitely different Excaliburs. The one to which I was referring is a fan film project and it's got a .org address, not .com.

Re: New Member Welcome Thread
I am not exactly a new member but I would like to say I am back. I have been MIA for a long time.
I have had a health issue come up so I'm on lots of pain pills and use a cane to walk now. Hopefully there will be a surgery in my future taht will help.
I also have had a job change so the was a major change.
Anyway again about me I use Lightwave, Photoshop mostly some other programs too. Big scifi fan. I write working on a scifi screenplay.
Hopefully I will get my other projects jumpstarted.
Glad to be back.

Re: New Member Welcome Thread
Not really a new member, just one who never posted and drifted away...
I've been trying my hand at rendering lately, and love science fiction. Where else should I end up but here? Longtime Photoshop user, been using DAZ Studio for about a year and a half. Would like to learn to model but still wrapping my brain around getting decent renders. Lots to learn.
It's nice to be here!

Re: New Member Welcome Thread
New member, primarily a Lightwave user. Started with Lightwave back in the early 90's on the Amiga VideoToaster system as a wannabe video maker. Around 2015 became re-acquainted with Amiga (due to my news feeds blowing up with it's anniversary) and Lightwave which eventually brought me to purchasing the current version of Lightwave for the PC (2015.3 at the time, now 2019.1.4).
Love seeing 3d renders and animations, extremely impressed with those that can model.

Re: New Member Welcome Thread
Hello.
I'm Chris and I just want to say "thank you" for the add.
I used to be a Truespace guy, and then stopped. After a couple years of nothing I got Lightwave 2015- but have only now started using it.
I'm more knowledgeable with 3D Cad than 3D art programs.

Welcome bellpeppers
I´ve had my first version of LW also two or three years, before I´ve started to build the first modell with it.
