Yeah, that was the whole reason. Though, at who else could he get pissed? I mean, everyone was about to die, only Jor-El's son was going to survive. If he got pissed at any of the other council members, he couldn't come back packin' a major grudge in Superman II.

you blow up your home planet, you have to face the consequences!
but yes, i admire quality of comic book movies by Batman Begins. A great intro story, with a more or less believable character, a more or less believable superhero, and simply an all around quality piece of work. I saw the first 2 supermans; they were great, but they had that distinguished 70's cheese-charm to them. Im a product of my generation. *shrug*
looking forward to this one!

Here's a link to the closest I've seen of it. But it's apparent that it's a stylized piece of fan art or something, and not an actual "official" photo.....

I've seen her act in
Taladega Nights
Enchanted
Battle of the Smithsonian
She's even done Smallville...
Looks like a winner here!

Re: Amy Adams cast as Lois Lane
While I think there could have been a better choice, I think this is better than Kate Bosworth in "Returns".

Re: Amy Adams cast as Lois Lane
I can't say for sure that I've seen her in anything, so I can't argue one way or the other on that choice. But I thought Kate Bosworth was good in Superman Returns - which I really liked by the way.
Y'know who was really good in that? Frank Langella as Perry White. I thought he was really good in the role. For that Matter, Kevin Spacey made a great Lex Luthor, too. But I think Luthor as the villain has been played out.
And I hear that the villains in the upcoming one are General Zod, Non and Ursa again. I hope not..... it's already been done. How about some fresh ideas? I'm all for Brainiac. With CGI, they could do a great job with it!

Re: Amy Adams cast as Lois Lane
Zod has already been cast for Superman: Man of Steel. As for the other two, I don't know. So, yes, Zod is the confirmed main bad guy in the next Superman movie.
I like Superman Returns also, I think they did a good job on it. However, I'm also glad they're doing a reboot.

Re: Amy Adams cast as Lois Lane
Did you ever see the deleted scene from Superman Returns, where he's in the spaceship, visiting the remains of Krypton? That's a cool scene and I don't know why they cut it from the film.

yeah I saw it, and thought it looked great........
I really don´t know why "Return" did not work, I enjoyed it a lot .....
got a real buzz when he stopped the 747 ..... sublime moment and took me back to when I was 8 when Christopher Reeve Superman first took to the screens.
but I feel that some of the casting could have been better .... and nothing against the actors .. some where just wrong ..
bad ideas ..... The Son of Superman ... just felt wrong as the film move on
Brandon Routh ...Clark Kent / Superman: Great casting
Kate Bosworth ... Lois Lane not so great
Kevin Spacey ... Lex Luthor Strongest Lex we have seen
James Marsden ... Richard White I did not like this character
Parker Posey ... Kitty Kowalski She looked more Lois than Kate
Frank Langella ...Perry White I liked him in it
again just my take on it......

Re: Amy Adams cast as Lois Lane
Yeah, I agree with you.... I'm not sure why the film didn't work, either, because all-in-all, I liked it. I'd forgotten about Parker Posey's character, though. I found her annoying more than anything. Why does Lex always (in the movies) have himself surrounded by a pretty bimbo? I really don't see what she was supposed to bring to the story other than to foil Lex's plans in the end (just like Valerie Perrine did way back in the 1st Superman with Christopher Reeve). I think it cheapens Lex's character more than anything.
Oh, and I didn't like the character of Richard in Superman Returns, either.

Yes here character was a pain, but in looks she could have been Lois
IMO

Possibly a control trip for Lex ... SUPERIOR to even his own cronies .
perhaps ???

I think that was another character that could have been done without ...

Re: Amy Adams cast as Lois Lane
Richard White was kind of a useless character that was created for that movie to add an extra layer of separation between Lois and Clark. He didn't do much for the story. They probably only had him be a pilot so that he wouldn't be completely useless.
Parker Posey is awesome, though her character was kind of useless too. They were clearly trying to repeat the success that Valerie Perrine had playing Ms. Teschmacher in the original two movies. Valerie and Ned Beatty were the comic reliefs of the original movies and they worked for the '70s. However, nowadays, comic reliefs aren't used as much, so her character seemed a bit out of place.
The roll of Lois was a bit big for Kate, though I thought she did an acceptable job playing the part. We'll see if Amy does any better.
I thought everyone else did a great job in Superman Returns. It will be interesting to see how this new cast does.

Re: Amy Adams cast as Lois Lane
Yeah, you've got that right about the comic relief part... it's certainly out of place these days, and although it still existed in Superman Returns, I'm glad they downplayed it. The movie overall had a slightly darker tone, which I liked. And it could have been made a bit more so if they hadn't cut out the part with him returning to the remains of Krypton.
The whole comic relief part waaaaaayyyyyyyyy overplayed in Superman III, which was just a dreadful movie. They made Clark more than "mild mannered".... they made him a klutzy buffoon, and that just did so much damage to the franchise, that it was unrecoverable. Superman IV sank it completely.
Superman returns gave me hope -

Re: Amy Adams cast as Lois Lane
Superman III was more of a Richard Pryor movie than it was a Superman movie. He stole the show in that one.

Wow, Christopher Reeve didn't even like it, huh? I guess he did it out of contractual obligations.
Yeah, you're right about Richard Pryor, too...the movie was more like a forum for his comedic/acting skills, than it was a Superman movie. Just an awful movie.

Re: Amy Adams cast as Lois Lane
Chris Reeve also said . "the less said about Superman 4 the better" ..
I saw this on some video some time ago at the only convention he did ... or something like that.....
I will see if I can relocate it... I remember it was not the best quality
