Re: This is not a reboot
Yeah the purple bits on the Tholian ship would swirls around.
UPDATE...
More of my Klingon ship.
I've added a photon torpedo tube and some cut outs to the lower front part of the upper deck.
Second I've added stuff the sides of the upper deck. A few details behind the bridge and most importent. Two disrupters.
The last picture shows more details behind the bridge and some changes made to the neck to make look a bit more beefy.

Re: This is not a reboot
1) very cool about the Tholian ship. I was hoping that was how it would be. I guess it's the animator in me that sees things like that and want to see them move. LOL!
2) Man, that Klingon ship looks fantastic! I mean that. Really. I like the way you're designing this thing. It's updated, dangerous and manages to keep the feeling of the original design.
Bonus points for both!

Thank you.
UPDATE...
I’ve nearly got the secondary hull in shape. It will take a little tweaking to get just right. The warp engines are temp.

Re: This is not a reboot
UPDATE...
I finished the basic body of the ship and now need to work on ideas for the warp engines.
I've got three version of the Klingon Disrupters. I like all three.
I don't know what that boxy thing on the back of the upper part of the D-7 is but mine will be a shuttle bay.
I also added some more to the neck. I don't know if I'll keep the disrupters there or not.
And the final picture shows the impulse engines and what should become the shuttle bay.

Re: This is not a reboot
UPDATE...
Pic 1 I added windows and tested a possible texture. Kind of looks like grass. Maybe the Klingons are getting into golf.
Pic 2 More details on the neck and a few windows.
Pic 3 I'm thinking about placing some disrupters under the hull.
Pic 4 Here is the aft photon launcher.
Pic 5 This is to show scale. The Klingon is one big mother.

Re: This is not a reboot
Thanks it's a lot of fun.
UPDATE...
I've added windows to the tulip bulb part of the ship.
More textures for the upper deck and adjustments to the older ones.
Decided on the placement for the aft disrupters and started to detail the shuttle bay area.

Re: This is not a reboot
Had an idea for another ship based on a design by Matt Jeffries. I really like the way it looks even though it is kind of goofy but it looks faster than the D7.

Re: This is not a reboot
UPDATE...
I finished the build on the shuttle bay part of the ship. I also finished most of the textures for the top of the Cobra Head. I also included a peek at what might become Romulan textures.

Re: This is not a reboot
UPDATE...
I started to texture the center of the Tholian ship. They turned out a little darker than I would have liked to I’ll have to work on them a little more. I still have a few edges to chamfer and some more details I might like to add.

Re: This is not a reboot
Thanks.
Update...
Getting some more texture work done on the ship. Mostly it’s the bottom, left side and back of the main hull. There’s still the right side of the ship to do and the three parts that stick out.

Re: This is not a reboot
Well it's been awhile time since I last worked on this ship.
UPDATE...
The final textures for the upper saucer. I always liked the idea that the coffee stain on the saucer might be different colors for different classes of ships. So instead of the greenish color fo the destroyers like the Saladin, Swiften and Kelvin I made this brown for cruisers.
I considered having the outline of the NCC number on the top of the saucer have a small amount of self illumination. But instead I think I'll save it for the more advanced Enterprise I may or may not build.
Here is a shot of the Archer'S NCC numbers under the saucer and on the warp engines.
Lower textures for the part between the two Cats.
Upper view of new detail on the Cats and upper textures on the thingy between them.

I really like your Destroyer. I had a terrific little miniature destroyer that I used playing 'Starfleet battle manual' and you've captured it beautifully.

Thank you.
UPDATE...
I added windows to the cats and some detail to the ends of them. I think that's all I want to do to them.
I've also had an idea for a possible refit adding a secondary hull. I borrowed the secondary hull from another ship just as a stand in.
AndI think the textures for the part of the ship I call the catwalk are done. I know there is some stretching along the front and back of the pylons but I think I can get away with it since I don't ever plan on gettting this close normally.

Re: This is not a reboot
Thanks though I can't really take credit for the design since it's based on the NX-01 and that's based on the Akira.
UPDATE...
I’ve completed textures for the left side cat. Now all I have to do is the other one and get rid of the windows on the back of the saucer next to the cats.

Re: This is not a reboot
UPDATE...
I had actually forgotten about this ship. So I thought I might as well get work done on it.
I finished and fixed the textures on the cobra head and I decided that the bottom of the secondary hull needed something back there. So I added something.

Re: This is not a reboot
UPDATE...
Decided to finally tackle the textures for the neck and tulip bulb. They still need a little tweaking but I’m happy with them. I’m now considering rebuilding the mainhull of the ship there’s just too much about it I’m not really happy with.

Re: This is not a reboot
UPDATE...
I was able to go back and fix a few problems I was haveing with he main hull. I also added a small doodad to the bottom of the warp engine. For some reason I think adding just that small bit makes the engines look a little bit beefier. I also decided to open up Inkscape and try to make a bird for the bottom of the Romulan version of the ship.

Re: This is not a reboot
UPDATE...
Most of the hull is textured now and as you can see this Klingon Captain likes to keep track of how many Federation dogs he's destroyed.
Started to work on the textures for the bottom of the ship. Just a little bit more to add and it's done. I included the Romulan bird to see how it looks. I like it. The Romulan version of this ship will be colored different.
