Re: Federation Civil War
Is anyone else getting the missing image white box with a red cross on the original images or is it our office firewall choking the life out of our internet connection again?

Re: Federation Civil War
Usually that indicates a blocked image. I'd say it's probably the firewall. However, you might want to go to your User CP and check your view settings to make sure you're set up to see images.

Thanks evil_genius. It seems that our firewall at the office is blocking the images. I took a look this morning using my GSM internet connection and they show up.
They are really .... umm ... paranoid with our firewall as we sit on the South African government network. I can't really complain i guess ... :/

Re: Federation Civil War
It looks great, bro. Did you get the inspiration for the greebles and whatnot from DS9 and the Cardassian fleet? A lot of that stuff reminds me of the detailing on DS9.

Re: Federation Civil War
You're exactly right. It was always my intent to make those sections look like parts of DS9

Re: Federation Civil War
UPDATE...
Added panel lines to the, wings I guess I would call them.
I also added impulse engines.
I have also added an airlock. It's loosely based on the ones used on DS9. I plan on placing another one up front some where.

Re: Federation Civil War
UPDATE....
The build of the Impulse engine is done.
I've started to play with an idea of doing a Keldon type varient of the ship.

Excellent work! The detailing on the narrow section in the second image really looks good, and the shadows your detailing creates really stand out nicely.

I like the looks of that Keldon variant so far. It makes the ship look beefier.

Re: Federation Civil War
The keldon-section looks very good on it but it´s a little bit too chunky IMO. I think a little more restrained version works better on this ship.
BTW I´ve dithered about the rear-torp-launchers a few days and I think the spikes are not an ideal place for it - ´cause bringing the torpedos to it seems to be much more difficult as to bring it to torp-launchers in the center of the ship ( My personal meaning - but nobody knows what´s going on in a cardassian brain... )

Re: Federation Civil War
The Keldon part is only blocked in but the original is chunky looking also.
The spikes are larger than you might think. There should be no problem with torpedoe delivery. I'm happy with the position so I won't change it and I don't want to add it to the main hull because I like the way it currently looks.
Here is a look at another new ship that I've blocked in. I wanted to do something with a ball instead of a saucer. It's slightly influenced by Crushers ship from All Good Things but it is not a medical/science ship.

It was more a reflection about the logistic-part, as a crit on the design - I really like it...
And: The Keldon-part of the original-design is also too chunky IMO ( )

Yeah, the U.S.S. Pasteur. (AKA, the late 24th century Daedalus.) I always liked that ship because it definitely looked like an updated Daedalus-class. I think they also re-used the Pasteur model on DS9, but I could be wrong about that.
Looks like a good design so far, X. I love the Daedalus-class and the idea that its basic design survived to the 24th century. I know you're blocking stuff in still and it's early, but some of the blocked-in elements have a kind of Excelsior feel to them.

I've got nothing to say that hasn't been said already - these are great. I really like the detail that your models have.

Started to play with some windows. I don't know how happy I am with them so I might redo them.

Re: Federation Civil War
Ah, nothing gives a build a sense of scale like some good ol' windows. (not even the guy taking the field sobriety test on the hull)

Re: Federation Civil War
UPDATE...
I thought I'd go back to the U.S.S. Soval real fast and do a table for the conference room/ready room. That black circular thing is a holoprojector.
The first pic shows the table with the chairs pushed in.
The second pic shows the chairs pulled out.
The last pic shows what it looks like from the outside.

Nice. I like the chairs, they remind me of the ones for the rear stations on the Enterprise-D's bridge.

Cool. They are exactly what I was thinking about when I made them. They'll even have the the slots in the floor that those seats had.

Those chairs were cool. They are one of the few features I like about the Enterprise-D lounge, er, I mean bridge. Those and the forward consoles (but not the chairs with the consoles.) The rest of it kinda sucked except in Yesterday's Enterprise and Generations, where they had the darker lighting and side stations.

Re: Federation Civil War
I'm gonna try to get back to work on these ships. I'm gonna start out by fleshing the Claymore out a little bit more. I'm probably going to change the name. I'll also make a few design changes because FASA's design is a little too TOS like.
UPDATE...
I've added two pics that I'm basing things off of. Sorry for the crappy pics but it's the best I could do.
I decided to start with the back of the warp engine. I'm still not sure what role this will play. I don't know if this will be an explorer or some kind of mobile duckblind. At first I thought that big thing hanging off the bottom of the ship would be a solar sail but it could also be a type of super sensor.

That's a pretty friggin' weird design. So, of course, I like it. I'm looking forward to your version.
