Terminal was quite an upsetting episode in regards to the Liberator, but, funny story about why they did it.
The show was only orginally supposed to last 1 year, so the studio model and the Liberator sets (command deck especially) weren't built to last any longer. In the end it was going to be cheaper for the BBC to build a new set, and new ship model than it was to keep repairing the old ones. So that's how the Scorpio was born.
