Default New Homepage Progress

The Download center is now online!

I've modified the graphics to nearly match the rest of the site, but I still need to fix a few minor issues, such as some text color issues. Once I find out exactly where those attributes are set in CSS, the visuals will be finished.

Look for the new "DOWNLOADS" link on the homepage menu...

Any chance of getting thumbnails on the models so we don't have to click each link separately?

In the HTML:

#FFFF55 = Your Really BRIGHT yellow for the links
#FF8080 & #FF0000 = The Red overlinks.

Kakaze: I'm using a pre-made PHP setup for this, so I have to find out how to change it. But I agree that thumbnails would be an excellent addition. My best answer at the moment is - Hopefully.

Moovok: Thanks, but the problem is finding where in the PHP / style sheet those values are set. I've found most of it, but a few of the PHP references to style attributes don't actually match up to anything in the style sheet. It's actually pretty screwy... But I'm still workin' on it.

Hey Rick,

I like most of the new design except for your use of frames on the front page of the site. The bottom quarter of the display space is just blank white space and is being wasted. I'm ending up having to scroll way more than I should to see all the news. If there is no good use of that bottom frame I'd recommend getting rid of it. It would minimise scrolling which is important in web design.

Cheers,

Richard.

Thanks for the heads-up, Richard. I browse at 1280 x 1024 myself, so I hardly noticed that bottom frame. However, it had a set pixel height, and when I switched to 1024 x 768, it was very obvious.

I've removed the frame and placed the copyright info under the navigation bar. Does that work better for you?

Well, Kakaze, your wish has come true - I upgraded to a newer version of the DL center script and found a hack to add thumbs to the main file list. What do you think? If the thumbs are too large, I can shrink them to 100 pixels wide.

When you say "style sheet", I'm hoping you mean a .css file that has all the attributes of what a link shoudl look like, etc.

Problem is, that page does not look at a .css file. The thing I've found better is, creating a .css is the best way, due to the fact you only need one line of code, which tells that HTML page to look into the .css file, and take the bits it needs. Then, when you need to change the look of the forum totally, throughout, all you have to do is change the .css file, and the pages will automatically change.

Totally different topic. We have a problem, if your supersticious (plus, we need all the luck we can get).

All trimmings of Christmas have to be down by midnight on the 6th. The 6th is today, and we still have a logo with Christmassy spirit in it. Just saying, doesn't hurt to at least put it back to it's original logo, might get more member's as well

Perfect.

Though, the thumbs don't show up when you click "view all models".

*sigh*

One step at a time, my friend.

I've actually found a hack to do just that, but it's still being tested. Once it is deemed complete by its author, I'll pounce on it like a quarterback on a homecoming queen...

If the quarterback's hot, I'll be anything to get him to pounce on me.

Yeah, I didn't really think that comment through until after I posted it.
