Ferion Phaser Cannon Type-I
Hi All,
Working on my next project for Ferion. They needed an image of the 'Phaser Cannon Type-I'.
Here's the concept drawing I did:
And here's a couple of construction shots of the beast:
More updates coming soon, enjoy.

Impressive... personally I'd consider changing the name, but I have no idea what I'd change it to.
SO does this go in a ship, or is it lugged about by that big alien you were making before?

Thank you.
Eh I'm not a big fan of the name either, but I didn't name it. I'm going to have a chat with him about that time permitting. I'd like to just call it 'particle cannon'. But, as I said, I'm not the boss on this project.
Actually, it's niether. It's a lab-prototype to be converted into weapon form. Though I have kicked around the idea of mounting it on a turret. 'Lab-prototype' is how I'm approaching the design of it.

Sorry about the lack of updates the last few days. I had a nice little combination of getting sick and running into a design challenge. Curious about the challenge? Okay, have a look here:
http://www.reflectionsoldiers.com/re...truction_g.jpg
I did some research on particle accelerators etc, and picked up on the color scheme. It's not bad, but by the time I got to the claws, it stopped looking like a particle accelerator and more like a blue model car. So I took a couple of more evenings to refine the design a bit. And I think I came up with a better scheme. I need to mention that the hazard decals are not UV mapped yet, so yes they are distorted in places. Enjoy.

Now this is a post-production trick, but I thought ya'all might wanna see the lights dimmed a bit so you can see the particle emitters glow.

Wanna see the rear?

Hope you all likes. C&C welcome.

Well, judging from the size of that access panel in the last image, my guess is that the whole thing is about 10 to twelve feet in height, and about 50 to 60 feet in length.
So, Nano, how close am I?

Hm, that's true. The textures do add a sense of scale to the whole thing. Until I saw them on it I'd figured it to be a lot smaller. I have no idea why... anyway, they bring out the scale pretty well, which is always good.

hehe. I haven't figured it out yet. That's on my list of things to do this weekend.
As for the reason why the textures help the scale, I imagine it has to do with the ground and the hazard decals on it.

Alrighty, I got more of the roof done. The interior is pretty close to being geometry complete. Just got a little more to do on the roof, and maybe a little more detail in the walls. Then I start lighting it for real and texturing it.

WOW! Stunning! That's a great image! I love the glows especially. Can you post a shot looking down from the balcony?
