This is not a reboot
This is nothign but an idea I had floating around. I don't consider it a reboot or a redesign of any thing. I've done it just for fun. I was influenced by Vector's reimagined enterprise. But only for the back of the engine.
This is a type 1 warp engine for single engine ships like the Saladin.

Re: This is not a reboot
That's cool, bro. I think it could easily fit into canon TOS Trek.

Maybe not so much any more.
A few more bits. I borrowed a few parts from my Saladin mesh as placeholders.

Sure it is. The Enterprise wasn't exactly state-of-the-art by the end of TOS (hence, the refit.) And the warp coils are very TMP-ish. So, this could be a go-between design from the late TOS era.
Looks great, BTW.

Re: This is not a reboot
UPDATE...
More details added.
I've started on the pylon that will connect the engine to the Saucer. I've decided not to add windows here since it needs room for all the warp stuff. I might still add a few small windows or portholes closer to the saucer.
The last two pics are an idea for gimmick I've been tring to avoid but can't stop thinking about. I'm thinking the parts at the back of the engine might move in and out according to the speed it's moving at.
I think they would be moved out while at low warp or impulse. They move closer as the warp factor moves up.

Re: This is not a reboot
Looking great as always, dude.
I've been thinking over the last couple days about that idea you had for the thingies near the back of the nacelle to move in and out. At first I wasn't keen on the idea but then I realized it does make sense. Having it move in at high warp would make the ship more "streamlined" and would (I'm guessing here) make the warp field more smooth. So, it's a cool idea.

Re: This is not a reboot
I still kind of think it's a little bit of a goofy idea. But your explanation for it works.
UPDATE...
I've added a saucer finally.
I've also added a lower sensor dome and a nav deflector.

Re: This is not a reboot
Yeah, it is a bit goofy. And my explanation can probably be argued at least 100 different ways to invalidate it.
Now, about the saucer. I know it's not a reboot, but it looks a little too much like the TOS saucer for my taste. At least change it up a bit (besides the nav deflector thingy.)

Re: This is not a reboot
I understand what you're saying about the saucer but I was going for a more TOS feel for the saucer. It will be changed but I don't want to go crazy with the changes. I still want it to be recognizable as TOS influenced at least.
UPDATE...
Started to put together ideas for the impulse engine.
The bridge and b and c decks are just place holders from another ship that I made.

Re: This is not a reboot
Yeah, I do see what you're saying about the saucer (and pretty much guessed that before.) I was just throwing out ideas, though not necessarily good ones.
The impulse engines look good so far and that's another great avatar. Some people thought Danny Devito was too gross as the Penguin, but that's one of my favorite roles I've ever seen him in.

Re: This is not a reboot
Devito was perfect as far as I'm concerned. I prefered his Penguin to Nicholson's Joker.

Re: This is not a reboot
I think they're about the same for me. Though I did think the permanent smile on Nicholson's face was a bit much, but that's really Tim Burton's fault. I like the way they made Devito look more avian, a look that nobody had really given the Penguin before but everyone has since.
Everybody is better than Arnold Schwarzenegger as Mr. Freeze. (and I'm even a fan of much of Arnold's work)

Re: This is not a reboot
I like the movie (though it was almost as corny as the '60s Batman series and movie) but the one-liners were getting on my nerves. Arnold has always had some of the best one-liners (I love some of them he has in Commando) but they went too far with it in Batman & Robin. The best part of the movie for me was Uma Thurman in the Poison Ivy costume (she's hot. ) Though, Alicia Silverstone also looked damn good in her anatomically correct molded plastic Batgirl costume.

Ah-Nuld and Chuck Norris are the only two actors that nobody would criticize to their faces. Ever.

Re: This is not a reboot
Speaking of the old movie from the '60s. I just picked up the DVD not too long ago.
What I want to know is what happened to the beakers and their holders after they reconstitute all those people sitting down.

Re: This is not a reboot
I've been wondering that for years. It's a great movie, even if it is corny as hell. I love all the special features on the DVD. I don't always like all that extra crap but that one has some good stuff on it. I think I've had that since around the time it first came out on DVD (and I had it on VHS before. )

UPDATE..
Since I finished the warp engine I thought I'd start on a few of the textures. I'm gonna try and keep them subtle.

Re: This is not a reboot
it's just an option with this ship right now.
I've been itching to do something with the Empire and I've been working on an idea with my Bajoran ship attacking Smiley's Defiant from DS9.

Re: This is not a reboot
UPDATE...
I've added a few things around the rim of the saucer.
On one side will be a small shuttle bay and on the other side a cargo bay.
I've also added a new bridge section and a new b and c deck. All meant to be a little bit beefer than normal.
Yes I know about the segmentation on the saucer.

Re: This is not a reboot
UPDATE...
Unfortuneatly I lost the last save of the ship so I lost some of the rim details. Nothing I can't redo.
But since I don't feel like doing them again I thought I'd go back and do some work on the engine textures.
I redid the Emblem to look like the one used on Enterprise and added textures to the bottom of the engine. Not that it matters I'll have to redo them enyway because I've decided they're way to low rez right now. So I consider these tests to see if I could get all the blend materials to work right.

Too bad about the lost save. How did that happen?
Everything looks spiffy, dude. I like the stripes and logo better than the earlier version.

Re: This is not a reboot
I don't know how I lost it.
Just that the last time I tried to open it I couldn't. It's ok because it might give me a chance to go back and add some more segments.

Redid the textures on the warp engine. They're a higher resolution and look much better as far as I'm concerned.

I've finished the textures for the warp engien, the neck and the impulse engine. I also made a minor change to the deflector housing.
