The Female Icons of SciFi
A new discussion thread .. about the Ladies of SciFi or Fantasy: if that is your pleasure.....
A few guidelines ..
1. you must provide a good publicly acceptable Image (High rez if possible and no adult images)
2. Name of Character and performer
3. some comments on what it is you liked
4. One character per post
To Start .. I begin with Wilma .. A she was the catalyst for this thread :
3: In 1979 Erin took on the role as Colonel Wilma Deering and over two seasons she changed her hair from brown to blonde to satisfy the producers who felt it would benefit the show, when the series ended in 1981 she had left a lasting impression on viewers around the world, especially many male fans who had developed a crush on the sultry actress.
I was one of them .. very sexy outfits
A good Strong female character that was very feminine and all woman. without her character appearing masculine.. Good in a scrap.
unfortunately in the show second season Erin lost that strong part to only become a shadow of the first season. almost a Uhura from Startrek and playing second to the Hawk Character ..

Re: The Ladies of SciFi
Okay - here comes my fav girl that influenced me when I was ( very ) young in 1978 at EPISODE IV...
Princess Leia Organa played by Carrie Fisher.
Episode IV was the first of three STAR WARS movies where she played the powerful Rebel-Princess between 1978 and 1983. I was born in 1966 so this movies came exactly in the right moment... I like her wonderful brown eyes, the little freckles and her whimsically smile.
Unfortunately her career had gone down after Episode VI

Re: The Ladies of SciFi
Ok... my contribution to this discussion would be the character of Inara Serra, played by actress Morena Baccarin, from the series "Firefly" and the film "Serenity".
Unfortunately I couldn't find any good hires shots that do her justice.
Not your typical female character... the mystery and accessibility of the character was a curious mix. I think that the strange status that this particular universe gives to "companions" is a bit self-contradictory... being something of a high priestess and a courtesan rolled into one.
Cheers! — Möe

Re: The Ladies of SciFi
All excellent choices and reasons are good enough
Princess Leia Organa played by Carrie Fisher.
is or was going to be my next choice in the list .. again a strong willed character and very feisty and a woman that screams from surprise and not fear..

Re: The Female Icon of SciFi
I changed the title of the thread
and her is my next choice..
Raquel Welch born Jo Raquel Tejada.
Welch, the oldest of three children, was born Jo Raquel Tejada in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Josephine Sarah (née Hall) and Armando Carlos Tejada Urquizo. Her father immigrated from La Paz, Bolivia, her mother was an Irish-American.
One Million Years B.C. is her film that shot her in to the mind of men every where striking an iconic pose in a prehistoric animal-skin bikini. but it was the
Fantastic Voyage that made her a star
for me she is all woman, An in her way played them with feeling and strong ..
a common theme for me in women,
I don't quite know why but the one she is wearing a Gun belt is driving me crazy ..

Re: The Female Icons of SciFi
One of my all-time favorites is Jessica 6 from Logan’s Run as played by Jenny Agutter.
Jessica 6 is disillusion with the perfect world that she live in and works to help some escape the fate that awaits them when they turn 30. She sticks to her conviction to help those who want to run even when the person wanting to run is a Sandman (of course the fact that she found him attractive may have had something to do with it as well).
And frankly I think that she looks great.

Re: The Female Icons of SciFi
And another strong character
Vala Mal Doran played by Claudia Black
She´s an outlaw, a thief, a liar, a selfish person, hungry for love and she can hit hard - dunno why but I like this person...
She also played a Prospector in "Pitch Black"
I don´t no which role she played in Farscape - ´cause I´ve seen not one episode of this show...

Aeryn Sun is her character in Farscape .. in fact she was the reason I like to watch it.. yes a strong lead more that a match for John Crichton played by Ben Browder.
Yes I liked her character a lot.
Nice choice

Re: The Female Icons of SciFi
Today one of the "good guys"
Colonel Samantha "Sam" Carter ( actual rank at stargate-atlantis season 4 ) played by Amanda Tapping.
She´s tough, smart, she´s looking good, she has a gun, and she´s travelling to other galaxies ( wow - bonus-miles ) - very good reasons to like her...

Re: The Female Icons of SciFi
And what about Caprica #6? I was quite impressed with Tricia Helfer´s beauty. She´s maybe a bit too "top-model-like" but ellegant and sexy

And so it begins... ( Kosh )
Yes... Now it really begins - Season 1 was only a "warm up" for what is coming in the next four seasons. I´ve seen all and got all on DVD and my fav seasons are #2 and #3 ( after watching it, you´ll know why... )
BTW another pic of claudia - unfortunately we see her not with this outfit in the show.

Re: The Female Icons of SciFi
I can remember being a kid in the 1970s and seeing Linda Harrison as Nova (Planet of the Apes) and just being floored.
Another woman of SciFi/Fantasy that got my attention back in the day was Pamela Hensley as Princess Ardala. I could never understand why the heck Buck Rogers didn't figure out a way to hook up with both her and Wilma!
In today's scifi I'm a total sucker for both Tricia Helfer as Caprica 6 (although I like her with the more natural hair colour) and Grace Park as Boomer/Athena.

I did see it when it was first out but it's been such a long time now i've forgot a lot of it. it's almost like watching the series for the first time.

I bought the dvd box set off amazon. It's got series 1-5, all 6 movies, crusade and the new lost tales mini-series. Should keep me occupied for quite a while now.

Re: The Female Icons of SciFi
Hi,
many good choices in here. But one female is missing and she should definitely in here:
Jane Badler from V
Sorry, i don't have any attachement, only a few memories to a instant classic series.
Cheers Rob

Re: The Female Icons of SciFi
We can't have this list without Warrant Officer Ellen Ripley played by the very talented and very good looking, Sigourney Weaver. (Also very cute in Ghostbusters and nominated for an Oscar in Aliens.)

Re: The Female Icons of SciFi
Juanin Clay as Maj. Marla Landers
Episode: "Vegas in Space"
Juanin was originally going to play Wilma Deering, but lost out to Erin Grey.
I thought see was great, really liked her .... but glad Erin Gray got Wilma
