Red Dwarf - the Movie
the long awaited Movie still waits in Pre-Production at the moment.. delays have been caused by the need to wait for Chris Barrie to complete filming on Tomb Raider 2... with full production going ahead in March, the clock is hopefully ticking at last....
at the moment, there is no hint of the script, but hopefully they will resolve the cliffhanger of the last season.... will the Dwarfer's remain as convicts? is the Big Red One doomed (again?)

If the film does well, it could provide a boost to get another series of the TV show done, kind of like Fox did with the X-Files movie.

I sincerely hope they do something to improve on the last season of Red Dwarf. It just didn't work for me...

Well, X-Files was gonna do Season 6, with or without a film. I'm sure of that. Though don't quote me if you know officially that that wasn't the case.

That's true. Season Six was a certainty, but the film helped to tie the two seasons together and provided a boost in viewers when the new season began.

All my fingers and toes are crossed that this movie is going to be good. I absolutely love Red Dwarf but I did find the last couple of seasons to be a bit forced and only sporadically funny. Totally unlike the first 4 or 5 seasons which never failed to have me in stitches... My wife really doesn't like the show but she does find it amusing watching me cackle at it.... fortunately for me she's not one of those women who refuse to watch shows they dont like... A good friends wife is like that and the poor bugger has to resort to borrowing my tapes of them and watch them when she's in bed
