Useless chatter
I just found out that I'm getting my cable modem throughput doubled in 30 days. I have COMCAST and they just completed some extensive infrastructure upgrades to prepare for VOD (video on demand) services. So my download time goes to 3Mbps (min) and I forget what my upload will be! I already test at about 2Mbps now.

Here is where I'm at as a baseline - I've got myself so excited that I'll be pi##ed if I don't see it get into that 'insane' category  .

Colonial fleets is a BSG site, correct? What did you think of the new miniseries?

I was entertained by the show. I would definitely watch a series adaptation. The only thing that bothered me was Starbuck being a woman. Everything else was not too bad for a Sci-Fi channel production.
I remember the original show, but not so much that it kept me from enjoying the new version. Nice how they had to use the older Vipers during the fights.

I saw the original when it first ran. I thought at the time that it was a poor juvenile imitation of Star Wars with plots recycled from old Westerns and war movies. I haven't watched it since. The effects were pretty cool, I guess, and I liked Lloyd Bridges' appearance as the captain of Pegasus. As you know, he was offered the lead in Star Trek (the first guy, I think). I don't know if the remake will show up here in Japan, but I might buy the DVD out of curiosity.

The new BSG is soooo much better than the first, IMHO. I never could get in to the original as it was so poorly acted and the stories were just plain bad (well there were maybe two good ones). I was not a Buck Rodgers fan either for the same reasons. I think the new show is very well done and has many contemporary touches to appeal to a wider audience that never saw the original. The only drawback to me was that this was more of a pilot episode for a series than a movie. This may have been the idea.
There were many 'homage’s' to the original that were well done but the new effects and cinematography were kick-a##

I'm sort of torn up by the new series. In some ways its good. Especially its space combat. But its like, well taking the TOS Enterprise, covering it in Ribs, Giving Bones a sex change and making all the crew dislike each other.
Good and bad stuff.
But I am soooooo glad all the bickering on the forums is pretty much gone. It really made admining Hell. The forums are nice and happy now.

Glad to hear things have calmed down. What is the general consensus over there?
