H.R. Giger Alien Derelict Project
So I started building the Derelict ship from 1979's Alien based on the H.R. Giger design.
I've gathered a lot of reference images. Some from Giger. Some from Prometheus. Some from scratch built or store models. Looks different in most of the images.
Anyway just started. So few hours in got the basic shape. It's missing some large and small features and detail. No texture maps. I threw on a procedural texture and put together a scene.
So here are a few shots for you.

Should have mentioned that. Lightwave. Makes me wish I had Zbrush for this though. Oh well.

Re: H.R. Giger Alien Derelict Project
Spent an hour or two on it today pushing and pulling points and painted a quick texture. Getting ideas on how to go about this.
Wasn't happy with the overall results after pushing points. But now I'm not sure. Both versions have there merits. Somewhere in the middle.

Re: H.R. Giger Alien Derelict Project
Haven't had a lot of time to work on this, but I have put in several hours. More tweaking and retweaking. Trying to find the right shapes. It's a frustertaing ship. Have had a hard time with the starboard horn. It has a funky bit on the top. Almost started over. I may build it again when I'm done seeing better ways to build it as I go along and understand the ship better.
The furry ship in the attachments was to appease my girlfriend.

What, she wanted to see how the ship looked as a caterpillar?
It's looking great so far.

Keep an eye out here: https://www.facebook.com/sci.fi.ref
They may end up having quite a bit of ref material in the near future.

Awesome thanks. Already love it just for the Alien a concept art work. Big fan of Ron Cobb's work on Alien.
