Anyone seen this? It's out on DVD and I picked it up. Haven't watched it yet though.

I've seen commercials for it. I might have to rent it. Was it direct to DVD? 'Cause I don't remember a single preview for it coming out in theaters.

It's probably gotta do a few spins on the premium channels (HBOs and all that) first.

I'm on the waiting list at my local library. I don't feel like paying to rent it.

The effects are fun but don't look for an uplifting experience out of this flick.
High school drama students often do a better job acting than the people in this film.

Yeah, that's why I'm not paying to see it. It has the potential to be a steaming pile of poop.

Every time I go to rent it it is out. I just want to watch it for the effects and maybe some inspiration to render something.

Re: Dragon Wars
This movie is the highest budgeted Korean movie ever made and it really shows in the special effects department. The creatures used are out of Korean Myths and are for the most part pretty cool. It is definately worth the rental fee.
There are some really cool scenes with the demon army vs us army- which are handled very well and smartly for the most part. It is filmed entirely in english except for a small part int he beginning of the movie and alot of it w as filmed stateside.
Now if you are used to seeing some of the hastily made drivvel on the sci fi network these days- well, Dragon Wars will kick your 'bleep'. Check it out, yuo will be pleasantly suprised.

Re: Dragon Wars
I saw this movie a couple months ago and was unimpressed. The CGI was very well done and the creatures were cool but that's about all I can say about it that is positive. The plot was just OK and the acting was sub-par, IMO. The worst part for me was the dialog, it was pretty bad, IMO.

Re: Dragon Wars
Whoa....there was acting? I'm sorry but not even the FX could save this one for me.

Re: Dragon Wars
Yeah, that was pretty much my opinion as well. Special Effects enhance a good story and acting but don't make a movie.

Re: Dragon Wars
It's an interesting movie. The effects are pretty darn cool and I'll tell ya, the special features make this worth the price of a rental.
The battle at the end of act 2 is well done and the in the special features they do a side by side of their WIP animation and the actual film. For anybody who builds meshes or animates with them that special feature is really educational.
One of my hobbies is taking my CG animations and blending them into live action video and I learned a lot from the features on the disc.
