That's where the core goes though, right? Or just a plasma conduit or something?

Yes, that's where the reactor core will be.

It kinda looks like Geordi's office onboard the Enterprise-D... at least this time the whole warp core will be surrounded by forcefields and metal if need be. Nice work as usual Sean. So will the engineer have an office/console?

FYI, I have now extended the back wall of the reactor room out to the same distance as the from wall (though the side walls are still in the same spot). Here's a render showing the corridor to the main work space:
The main work space will be a round room about the size of the bridge with control stations for each of the three cores and a large work table. The corridor leading to it will contain one of those vertical transparent reactor cross-section displays like the one that appeared in Star Trek VI.

I actually like the core being contained, but looks a little TOO tightly contained - might be hard to work on or repair in that region. Love the work, as always, though.

That's the idea, Michael.
Zanith, I'm going to make more of that wall glass, so that might help a bit.

Does no one reply to updates around here anymore?
Update:
1600x1200
I'd really love it if someone could get me a higher resolution version of that MSD. The one I have SUCKS, and I haven't been able to find a better one anywhere. If someone could help me out with that, I'd really appreciate it.

Nice work SeanR with the more 'glass'/transparent aluminium. I like the double sided semi clear MSD you got there. It would be cool if someone on one side can touch an area of the ship, zoom in on it, etc., etc.
I love this, as all of your works.

Heh Heh! I always wanted to design a bridge that was a dome, giving half of that dome to the bridge and having the ability for interfaces to be used on that viewscreen. That is a part of the Remington project . . . . Ssssh . . . . No one sees it yet.

Wow, looking very foxy there Sean... that glass MSD thing was used before in the TNG episode Parallels with Wesley in a yellow uniform. I have an alternative Prometheus MSD that I got from Flare Sci Fi Forums that a member made, I think. It's using the Voyager LCARS color scheme.

I like that. One of my very favorite things was the clear overlapping diagram layover boards at the Utopia Planetia design room in the STTNG episode "Boobytrap" which introduced the Leah Brahms character. Sorry, I can't offer an image, maybe someone else can.
Is that the sort of thing you are trying to achieve or will you just have the single pane?

Dru, I liked that one, but it was a little too static for my tastes, not at all intereactive like a computer diagram would be. That same panel was seen in ST6 too, BTW.
Michael, if you could send me a copy of that (webolutionary@webolutionary.com), I'd really appreciate it.

That was suppose to be some kind of 24th Century drawing board, basically having a Galaxy Class schematic made of white tape or ink on clear plexiglass. It's like printing the ST: TNG Tech Blueprints on the clear material instead of paper and having it being tacked up on a board. Oh sean, I have LCARS jpgs and gifs and bmps that you might be able to use that I've collected from web sites if you are interested.

Michael_T, I would be interested in those images as well. I would like to acquire copies if at all possible.
Very nice work, SeanR.

Wow!
I REALLY like that descending shot of the Warp Core - kinda reminds me of that scene in ST:VI. Now if only they'd used that kind of core in the film!
Actually come to think of it, with regards to your own version of the Ent-A Main Engineering, Sean, I would have expected the updated Constitution-class to be a little more enclosed - like this - after the problems of having an open, cavernous Engineering Deck would have been highlighted in TWOK (ie, difficulty in compartmentalising damaged sections, protecting engineering crewmembers, etc). Surely they would have decided that more hull protection around the core was necessary also...

Hiya Sean,
As usual, looking good! (Love the lighting!) I was wondering... ever tried designing levels for games? This had me thinking of the PC game Elite Force... You could probably come up with some reaaaaalllly nice stuff.
Cheers,
Bonzai Gopher

I'm not good at low poly stuff, but I did try some UnrealTournament level editing once. That editor is so wierd that I never got anywhere with it, though.

As I've said before, they'd have to completely rebuild them from scratch, it's not just a conversion.
Update - I've updated the reactor design a bit - hopefully, this should look a bit better in the set:
No shadows in that image, so don't nitpick that. I'm going to render another shot looking down throught the decks overnight. I expect that to be a good deal more impresssive than the previous render from that camera.
