Default bright red shoes

can't seem to find the poem forum, so I'm gonna post it here, move it if that forum exists, thankies.

Bright red shoes.
It was in a time
When the days were hot,
And the nights were cold,
Food storages empty,
Yet the hearts flooded…
And people cared.

A fair young lady grew up,
She gained color every day,
And as young ladies do
Started dressing in a different way.

She bought herself dresses,
And stuck up her hair,
All that she lacked,
Was a shoe pair.

No money in her purse,
No food on her shelves.
Every coin saved up,
Every penny helps.

For months this went on,
She bought a high-heeled pair.
Her day had come, at last,
The shoes were more than fair.

Now it was right,
An angel from hell
Her figure alone
Dazzled all men.

All that greatness in her steps
All that pride in her head
She felt so large that she forgot
The mother who had fed.

She wore the red shoes
Day in and day out
They slowly wore down
They slowly wore out

Wrinkles covered the girl
She wasn’t so green
Yet still she behaved
Like she was the queen

White cracks covered leather,
Gray hair covered head.
In a disaster,
She ended up dead.

A truck ‘round the corner
They didn’t see her cross
As a middle aged woman
She looked plain gross

She flew over the windshield
And glass cut her veins
Too much blood on the iron
Too little in the brains

As she laid there, dying,
Blood covered the red shoes.
The white cracks,
Were polished up too.

And in her grave
She was laid too
With a black dress
She wore red shoes.

VERY nice work, Liza. While I like "mood" poetry, I'm particularly fond of the ones that manage to tell a story too, and you've got quite a little story here.
