A Jedi Weapon
I've always loved making these. This is my first saber hilt in about a year or so. I've never been able to get the chrome look right, but some members at scifi-meshes.com helped with that I plan on doing more of these (in fact one is in the works) and posting more pics in this thread.
This weapon is the weapon of a Jedi Master. It's my belief that a Jedi Master's weapon would be more skillfully crafted and less rough than the weapon of a Knight or Padawan.

One thing I've always wanted to do, and this image is going to set me off doing it
Many modelers make the Jedi hilts, but I rarely see regular sword hilts (sans blades... just the hilts) being made, so that is a minor mission of mine - Make sword hilts

I made a second hilt, with a few more details than the first one
With my old, slow PC, this only took about 2 hours to render with all of the shines, bumps and shadows.

Thanks. That diamond plate really took a bite out of the proverbial ass of my computer's memory, but I thought it was a good idea. I like shiny stuff :cylon:

I don't do animations. My computer is old and I don't like waiting a week for an animation to render. Also, the program I use is older and doesn't really do well with characters. Maybe after I sort some bills and actually get ahead I'll be able to get new stuff and do animations.

Welcome and thank you. I have a third one I'm sort of working on, I just haven't done anything with it in a few weeks.

What program are you using to make these? I've been wanting to do one with lightwave and it's proving quite difficult.

Did you do the blade as well or just the hilt?

I do blades too, I just don't have the opportunity to use the blades as tS 3.2 is crappy for doing characters.
I don't seem to have a pic with the second saber's blade, but here's the fist saber's blade. The second saber has a green blade. I have the fortune of having a hard to find plugin to add the glows.

Very high quality work, I've been working in 3d max on my own lightsaber, but have had to place it on the back burner for a while. I hope when I have time again to work on it mine looks as stunning as your two.

Thanks. That's really great to hear coming from a Max user 'cause the version of trueSpace I use is nowhere near as fancy as Max.

Thanks. The texture for the diamond plate is a bump map that came free with trueSpace.
