K-7 space station
I'm making a Trek style K-7 space station, based on the work of FourMadMen. He has not released his mesh, so I am recreating it using his orthographic renders as blueprints.
The spacecraft is my own work.
This is another component of my Leif Ericson project.

More images. The station has not been textured yet, it will have hull plating and the Strategic Space Command logo.

Cool model, Warrior. You should jet over to sfm and check out Four Mad Men's model, it's pretty fantastic. He's really detailing it nicely.

That's friggin' awesome. It looks like a heavily armored K-style outpost, possibly a variant. All you need are some huge phaser cannons.

Is it a canon or a modified version?

The K-7 of FourMadMen is exceedingly cannon. He used reference images from "The Trouble with Tribbles" and "Trials and Tribbilations", and had a year long discussion on various SF modeling forums to hash out the fine details.
Having said that, I think there were a couple of modifications, though the only one I'm aware of is the replacement of the stalk with the lamp on the center cone with a couple of radio antenna.
Go check it out.

Thanks for all the kind words, though most of the impressiveness is from Magnier's marvelous textures.

You could say that. However, your placement of said textures is also key. If you hadn't done your UV mapping right, it would still look like garbage, cool textures or no. At least take credit for the work you put into it.

*blush* I have to confess that I haven't done UV mapping yet. But I will eventually. I've been muddling along using a Blender-only technique that approximates applying a water-slide decal to a plastic model.
This means that when I make the clam-shells open, the texture stays put as the clam-shells move. Which is why I will be UV mapping when I get a spare moment.

Hey! I recognise that spacecraft! My dad gave me a model kit of that thing when I was first expressing an interest in SF - It was called a UFO (imagine that) and was moulded in this phosphorescent plastic that glowed in the dark... even came with the little shuttle thingy. You're doing a great job on the K-7, but I wanna say that you did an awesomme job with that ship, too. Any chance of some larger renders of that?
cheers!
