Default "Space: 1999": Moonbase Alpha, other 3d models

Hi everyone,

http://www.Space1999.org is organizing fans (and curious 3d modelers) to participate in the creation of 3d models for the "Space: 1999" universe.

At present, we have some amazing models of the Eagle (with accessories), the moonbuggy and the Hawk. We are interested in forming teams (whether 3D Studio Max, Lightwave, Rhino, Maya, Poser or other 3d programs) to tackle:

- Moonbase Alpha (exteriors)
- Extensions to Moonbase Alpha, seen in Year Two of the series, such as remote landing pads
- Alien vessels
- Moonbase Alpha tanks
- The SuperSwift
- Moonbase Alpha personnel
- Spacesuited Moonbase Alpha personnel

(The projects regard exteriors. We are open to recreations of the interiors, too.)

As our web site promotes an "Open Web Content" we would like to share these 3d models/meshes with the public at large via the Space1999.org web site. Proper credit will be given to each modeler for their contribution(s).

We've had success with this via my other site, http://www.battlestarpegasus.com We would welcome the opportunity to bring together like-minded artists/modelers. We hope to hear from you!

Please contact the site via:
http://www.space1999.org/email/

Of further note: Be sure to visit http://www.space1999eagle.com to see what other artists have done with the "Space: 1999" universe. The Eagle posters at this site were created in Maya. We don't expect models of this caliber (although we wouldn't mind!). We are seeking, though, to establish a forum for "Space: 1999" folks at http://www.Space1999.org to create these projects together.

Thanks,
Michael Faries

Is there any chance of a mesh being made of the Ultra Probe from Dragons Domain.

Yes. In fact, both an Electric Image and Lightwave version of the ill-fated Ultra Probe are in the works. I believe we'll see them posted in December, if the artist is able to finish in that timeframe.

Thanks Michael, as a huge Space:1999 fan, I thought there were so many fascinating models in the show. The Meta Probe was nice, but just didn't have the same 'look' as the Ultra.

Agreed. I'm glad Martin Bower put more work into the Ultra Probe for "Dragon's Domain." The Meta Probe wasn't too visible in "Breakaway." The Ultra Probe did indeed have something extra special about it.

Btw, if you're interested, Space: 1999's Special Effect Director, Mr. Brian Johnson, is answering questions about his career at http://www.space1999.org C'mon over and ask as much as you like. (That offers applies to everyone.) He's exceptionally candid with his feedback.

I've asked Martin Bower if he would like to participate in a similar Q&A. No word back yet.

Default Ultra Probe released; seeking additional models/meshes

R.J. Andron has released a Lightwave and Electric Image version of the Ultra Probe spacecraft (from the Space: 1999 episode, "Dragon's Domain") at:

http://www.space1999.org/gallery/cg.../rj_andron.html

Be sure to look around the site, as there are other terrific Space: 1999 (and some U.F.O.) models/meshes to download, too!

We're still seeking artists/modelers to create Space: 1999 ships, props, 3D characters! E-mail us at Space1999.org if you'd like to get involved.
