U.S.S. Enterprise as seen in "Star Trek: TMP"
All right, this is released and ready for download here:
Download Enterprise
It's available only in LightWave 5.6 format right now.
If you download it, please drop me a note here and let me know what you think. If you do a format conversion of it, I'd appreciate a copy of the conversion so that I can make it available for download -- properly credited to the person who does the conversion work, of course.
Thanks to WarriorDL for hosting the model. And thanks to everyone who's commented on the work in progress, encouraged me and provided reference materials and their own experience with modeling this version of the Enterprise.

I don't normally download other people's meshes anymore. I have most of the ones from Erik Timmermans' Trek Meshes site, and only use those when I absolutely have to.
I'm making an exception for this model. It's so freakin' good Beautiful job, Den, really.
Now start working on an Andromeda!

Thanks, guys.
seanr, I've got no rule on kitbashes. My general feeling is that if you make something available in any way on the internet and then try to control it, you're choosing to live with frustration and anger. When people use the mesh, I'd appreciate a credit. But folks can do with the mesh as they will.

Dennis, I love you. That's one of my favorite ship designs, and you made an overwhelmingly beautiful mesh out of it. Damn impressive! Thanks for releasing it to the public!

Hiya Dennis,
Thanks a bunch!!! I'll see if I can find the time for a Carrara Studio conversion (yeah, I know - Carrara what?)
The resulting file will probably be pretty big, but like I said before, this is my favourite ship.
Cheers,
Bonzai Gopher
p.s. Is Andromeda still on the air? In Canada it seems to have disappeared. Nuts, I was enjoying it.

Andromeda is still on summer hiatus until the second week in October. That's probably why you haven't seen it. It's freakin' produced in Canada--I can't imagine they won't show it.

Dennis, you get another official
"YOU ARE THE MAN"
And just a few comments to everyone else who downloads this mesh, Dennis is being extremely generous to all of us for releasing it, so please treat it and treat Dennis with the respect they deserve. Now I'll get off my soapbox, and lets all have fun with this incredible gift.

I seem to have gone LW-braindead today, and can't manipulate the program. Will a LWer please take pity on me and do a five-view under full lighting (say 1200x900) and email them to me? I'm trying to do the textures for the Max conversion, and changing the iffs to bmps or something else is wearin' me down
Gracias.
Dan

I know the episode is finished but maybe you could do like a deleted scene of the E being destroyed by the BOP in "yesterdays Excelsior"

And if someone would do a LW five-view of the different components (saucer/secondary/nacelles), that would be a big help

I'm having a bitch of a time with te textures. Is there anyway you could re-release it to use JPGs instead of IFFs? As far as I know, LW is the only program that can use IFFs, so it might be a better idea to use a more standard format for anything intended to be released anyway.
Thanks.
