HAPPY Setting up Film/TV Site

I am dedicated to films & tv, I have already 280+ DVDs in my collection and that grows almost every week and I watch TV constantly. I'm addicted, so I was thinking of setting a site up. It'll be a lot of work for me, but hey, I'm going to try and do one genre at a time.

Anyway, I thought it would be totally cool if my site had logos for each genre for movies, and a few of my own genre names. Now, I don't have a unique look for the site yet, so I wondered if anyone would be interested in doing little logos, representing each genre, whatever design they like (can't be huge, has to be a small logo, but not too small not to see the image).

If anyone's interested, so far, I've stolen from the IMDB website and genetically modified these genres:

Action/Adventure
Animation
Comedy
Crime
Documentary
Drama
Fantasy
Film-Noir
Foreign
Horror/Suspense
Kids
Musical
Mystery
Romance
Sci-Fi
Short
Special Interest
Thriller
War
Western

My Own Genre's I thought of:

Comic Book

Okay, not much on my front. So, anyone interested?

True, you have a point. But I've always found film sites very boring, and they're usually never one that has both film & TV series. And I may be reading too much into this but: "our site"?

I think he meant "your" - fast typing will do that to you sometimes...

My question - will it just be a catalog of your films, or will it also include disc reviews? The more "meat" there is to the site, the more useful it will become. And of course, you could always set up a discussion board, too - that alone could be important, because people can really get the lowdown on a dvd before they buy it, or even find out about a little-known version of their favorite movie that might be better than what they have. I'd be interested in that, since I've found a few Region-2 DVD's that have better transfers than their Region1 counterparts.

And obviously, as I'm also a DVD-addict and a general film-monger, I'd be interested in contributing regularly to anything you set up...

i'm sorry mike, but rick is right. i meant to type "your".

my epsilon hates me, it only works half of the time or has to be hit real hard...

if i had the time i would consider but i honestly don't. ain't got enough time for my own site, let alone the models i was working on!

i say: put togerther a file for your site. put together a 10-page concept for the site.
that's work but it wil proove to be helpful.

I was thinking of adding DVD Extras and stuff, so people can look at films or tv series, and then look at what DVDs are out there (Region 0 - 9) and see what special feature's, etc. there is. The Discussion Board was floating around in my head, but I realised that with a huge site with loads of details about DVDs would be a LOT of HTML pages (since I don't do PHP), so it was just going to be a catalog.

I have to admit, there's not a lot of sites out there that detail exactly WHAT you get on the disc, WHAT other discs are like on different regions, etc. It would be great to see, I'd love to create it, its just having much knowledge I don't.

Well, as Chris suggested, think of what information you want for each film, and basically how you'd like it to "work" together, like what links go to what pages, etc.

Based off of that, I can probably put together some sort of template to speed up the creation of each film's page (or set of pages.)

Okay, I'll get cracking! Instead of being a movie/tv site, being a DVD library would be ace, having all the DVDs listed Lot of work, but cool to have all the regions, etc.

once your site is big enough you might get all the new dvd's for free if you do reviews in turn.

but you aren't there yet
