A Dalek
Been messing about with this today
I've come up with a selection of colours I may use for it.
What are your thoughts ?

The model took about two hours, im now refining it adding more details.
And am thinking about a suitable scene to place them in.
I'm either going to do a dalek city scene, or some kind of war ravaged landscape.

they are from Doctor Who - Daleks. the Dalek is the mutated form of the Kaled race put into a travel system.... after their creator Davros did a lot of mind surgery etc...

http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/galle...ks/index.shtml
This is a gallery from the new series which shows the new series Daleks.
And this is a site which has inspired me to start messing about making daleks:
http://www.themindrobber.co.uk/docto...s-gallery.html
And these are daleks from the original series:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/class...ek/index.shtml
The Daleks come from the war ravaged planet of Skaro, a nuclear war caused mutations in the Kaled people, a Kaled scientist (and megalomaniac) Davros; started a programme to accellerate the mutation, and study the final form the Kaleds would take (the mutant was left with tentacles one eye, and no limbs), he then designed a 'travel machine' for the creature, carried out modifications to its dna removing emotions such as pity and compassion.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/class...nesisofdaleks/
The Daleks made their first appearance in the second doctor who story "The Daleks" http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/class...eguide/daleks/
As you will see from these links, my model is not quite right, and there are still quite a few alterations I'd have to make to it to even make it match the 1963 version. But im going to carry on practicing and see how I can improve this thing.

Cool, guys, thanks for the info. I've never seen Dr. Who (obviously.)
Those things look pretty cool and yours looks pretty true to the original so far.

This is another thing from Doctor Who I'd love to have a go at at some point.
Cybermen (a cyborg race who sometimes assimilate their enemies like the Borg from star trek except that the cybermen came first)
This is how the Cybermen looked in 1967:
Their design has constantly changed throught the history of the programme.
That is a design from last years series.
As I get better at 3d I will be attempting some of the various cybermen designs.
