Airforce One |
Description: |
Every so often I get the urge to make a picture that's non SF and this is one of those pictures. The Airforce One is converted from a Sketchup model into Lightwave and the Phantom is a Poser mesh also converted into Lightwave. The background is a magic hour picture that I found online then played with. It's a pretty simple lighting setup with three area lights to give slight colour washes over the three aircraft with post work in Photoshop. I'm a child of the sixties and I grew up with Phantoms, Harriers, Lightning's and the like so it's one of my favourite birds that's flying escort and not something more modern. |

I'd love to see more and more non-scifi stuff posted here.
This is an excellent piece. As you said, it's a simple one. But it IS effective. |

This was the "random image" on the front page, so I had to take a look. Great pic for the background. The models also look great and I like the lighting.
One tiny nitpick: while it can happen, it not be typical for the US Marine Corps to be escorting the President's plane. While he's aboard his jumbo jet and it's carrying the call sign "Air Force One," his safety is entrusted to the US Air Force. So, if he were to be escorted, it would be by Air Force jets, not Marine Corps jets. However, that's getting really nitpicky and it's still a great image. :) |
