Default Optimus Prime V2

Well, I finally decided to model something new, well, sorta new. I recently got a 20th anniversary Optimus Prime figure and Im using that as the reference to build a new, much better Prime mesh.

Heres a couple pics of what Ive got so far. Theres still plenty of detail to add to the pieces u see here.

Well, Ive got the final shape worked out, everything here is new except for the head, which is a temporary stand-in from my V1 Prime mesh. Now to go through and remove areas that need it and continuing fleshing out all the aprts.

I havent done much, but hes got wheels and tires now. I couldnt resist, so I backed up my wip and started to do something with him. This is just roughly moving pieces, but here is his truck mode, so far...

Im palnning to.

Still workin on him. Ive got alot of the parts I need built, still have some inner pieces to do, and the head and hands, as well as more detailing on existing pieces. Doesnt look much different in a normal render so I overlaid a wireframe shot so u can see the development more.

Ive got all the pieces up to the point that completes both modes. Ive got some internal stuff to do and adding details. The trailer is jsut there for an idea of the size I want.

I started working on the head today, and was rather pleased with how it turned out so I rendered some before and after shots using the V1 head as comparison.

Is this by chance for the threedy contest?

Robots seem to be so popular lately!
The wheels on the legs are a nice touch however

I like the model, but that image has far too much JPEG compression - as a result, much of the detail is lost.

I thought about that ahead of time with all the red in the image, and left it at Max settings after applying the credits in PS but alas, u can see the result

He looks very powerful. I like the shot as well. I think it is the lighting and subtle shadows.
Animated transform sequence should be fairly awesome.

Well, theres stuff inside there but its not really an inerior as u think of, in truck mode all there is for an interior is a seat. Im owrkin on some stuff I might have something to psot tonite.

Same ole story, been workin on detailin some pieces. Most of the pieces u see in these pics are finsihed pieces, modeling wise. Any one got any suggestions on texturing? Im gonna be on to it real soon.
