Into The Dark
Here's a little shot of the S.S. Columbia leaving Earth. I rendered it up yesterday but forgot to post it.

Perhaps ussadventure means more Glow around the Bussards and having some lights behind the Bussards "the bit that spins around" .. Why can't you use LW then I could use your meshes too.. :colwar:

There are no lights behind the bussards because I modeled them to be more like the ones for the show Enterprise, not TOS, since this ship is from before Enterprise. And I'm working on a lighting rig for the warp coils and bussards so they will cast light on the ship but it's sitting on the back burner right now along with a lot of my projects because I'm working on an entry for a contest at sf-m.
As for using or not using Lightwave; that stuff is too expensive. My next upgrade will probably be to a newer version of trueSpace before I even contemplate something like Lightwave. And, can Lightwave import any of these formats: .asc .x .dxf .can .rsd? because I can export to all of those (though I'm not responsible for the resulting mess that might occur.) Other than possibly being persuaded to export to one of those, get a converter.

Yeah, it's really going to be the answer regarding the bussards as I had a problem with my hard drive earlier and had to restore it. So, I lost a lot of work and have to reinstall my software. Fortunately, that ship was safe and sound in the downloads section here and other projects are saved to CD. I did, however, lose enough WIPs to be a pain in my ass.

I'm assuming you can import .3DS files, every application I've ever seen can import .3DS. .3DS and .lwo seem to be the most universal formats.
I'll probably export this ship to .3DS and upload it later. trueSpace 3.2 couldn't do that, but a copy of trueSpace 4.2 came into my posession a while back and I installed it instead of 3.2 after I reformatted my drive. It can export to .3DS. No .lwo export on that version, I think that came with the later versions.
Anyway, I'll export that later and upload it to the downloads section.

Actually, the thing didn't even import into tS 4 right, but I need to get the patch for 4.3. Hopefully that will fix the problem. If not, I guess I'll export it anyway and import it into tS 3 and see if it's all right.

Well, the export to .3ds looked like crap. Some of my booleans got funky and it looked like the parts were melted. I won't release a mesh that's not what I made it to be.
