Default William Windom (OS Star Trek's Commodore Decker) has died

A fine actor who will always be remembered by Star Trek fans as the man who went up against the Doomsday Machine and lost - and in so doing showed the Enterprise crew how to defeat the undefeatable.

The character was also the father of ST:TMP's Commander Steven Decker.

Rest in peace, Mr. Windom.

Yeah, I saw that on the Phase II forums. It's a shame, he was a great actor.

rest in peace.

Doomsday Machine is possibly my fav episode, mainly because of his performance of the broken Decker.

Quote:
Matt Decker: [distraught] They say there's no devil, Jim, but there is, right out of Hell. I saw it!
Capt. Kirk: Matt, where's your crew?
Matt Decker: On the third planet.
Capt. Kirk: There IS no third planet!
Matt Decker: [anguished] Don't you think I know that? There was, but not anymore! They called me; they BEGGED me for help, four hundred of them! I couldn't... I-I couldn't...
[begins sobbing]

Yeah, William really stole ever scene he was in in The Doomsday Machine. He was fantastic. It's one of my favorites too, specifically for that reason.
