Return of the Visitors (WIP)
I love the old V mini series and was glad that someone had done the shuttlecraft. Unfortunately, the squad vehicle option doesn't seem to want to co-operate with me.
I've already received some tips and criticisms on how to improve this.

Try adding some noise & motion blur to the fighters so they blend better with the background.
or add some video noise and CNN-style borders and captions to make it look like a breaking news story.

Up the ambience for your shadows on the models to match the BG image shadows as well.

I've started messing with Fog and depth of field which has softened the skyfighters making them blend in more.
The strange thing is that I tried to use some motion blur and moved the three fighters, yet only one fighter was affected.

Okay, this is the second stage.
Hito: I like the idea of doing that. Is it possible to cut and paste a news station logo (like the BBC) and layer it into a pic in photoshop?
I'm also going to experiment with shadows and point lights.

Ok... now the ambience is too high.... at least on the ship on the left side.
Dunno about that blur either.
A soft filter would probably be a better option.

Well I was going to post my update, but I've decided to wait till I gt more work done. I've moved and enlarged the mothership to make it appear more 'ominous'. The motion blur was too much because it was at its default setting of 55%. I turned it down to 25 and it appears a lot better. Shadows is something I'm going to have to experiment with and hope it works.
Is there any tutorials on doing reflections?

Further update but still no shadows yet. I've got the motion blur to what I feel is a reasonable level and slightly repositioned the left hand shuttle.
Once I paste on shadows, I think it will help.

OK. The sun is clearly behind the shuttls and the larger ship, so why are the front faces of them brightly lit? Unless there is something behind the camera reflecting sunlight, that's impossible. You need to make the position of your key light more accurately match the background.

Reflection of light off the water will affect the ships right above it, but not the one way up in the sky or to the sides of it. Thus needing different types of lighting. Suggestion:
Remove the ships above the water, render with ddarker shadows, save that image then insert it as a background and render the ships above the water with different lighting than before.

Cool
I liked the first picture the best. Is it possible to decrease the black level in it?
